Can A Negative Experience Be Used for Positivity?

Life is a matter of balance and choices. For every extreme, there’s an opposite extreme. Up and down. Small and large. Left and right. Black and white. Tall and short. Good and evil. Positive and negative. Often, these extremes are personified as opposite sides of a coin. The problem with this is that coins are flat, and most things exist not at either extreme end, but somewhere between them. Take black and white, for example. Between these extremes is every

How and Why Do People Have a Problem with Inclusivity?

Any problem with inclusivity comes from artificial lack, scarcity, and insufficiency. It never ceases to amaze me how bent out of shape people get over inclusivity. No matter what the topic – race, gender, color, religion – you will find somebody objecting to inclusivity. Logically, and reasonably, this makes no sense at all. Why would you want to deny other people their rights, freedoms, and acts of basic human decency? In asking this question lots and lots, I believe I

What Are You Grateful For and Why Does Gratitude Matter?

Gratitude is the key to everything good and great. I’ll bet that you can easily point to things that you’re lacking. You might have insufficient money, debt, relationship problems, aren’t thin enough, can’t satisfy familial expectations, and so on. Your home isn’t big enough, your car isn’t new enough, tech is outdated, and so forth. There is nobody to blame for this, per se. But it should come as no surprise given that we live in a fear-based society. Often,

What Are You Intentionally Doing to Be Where You Desire to Be?

To get where you desire to be, what are you doing? I ask myself this question more than I feel like I should. Perhaps I’m alone in this. But then, maybe not. What are you doing to go where you desire to be? What does that even mean? For me, it’s about being who, where, how, why, and when I desire to be in this life. This is both a matter of the now, as well as where I will

Will You Live Today?

There is a difference between living today and existing – and it matters. When you look at the outside world – all the stuff going on beyond your direct control – things are nuts. The Presidential election in the US has begun its primaries, and that tends to bring out the worst in people. The UK has left the EU and the consequences of that action are yet to be seen. A nasty virus that could become the next pandemic

Positivity in the Moment

Finding positivity in the moment Nobody can be positive all the time, but moments of positivity can be a tremendous boost on your psyche. Why do I write about positivity every week? Because negativity is all too easy to come across, and difficult to resist.   Do I believe you should never feel negative? No. Shit happens. There are days where life sucks. Bad things occur, people get sick and die, friends turn on you – and that’s just the

Doing, Positivity, and the Life You Desire

Doing opens the door to having. Positivity is a key to that door. Do you have a dream? A goal? Is there something that you really want to make/have/or be in your life? What are you doing to make it happen? When I was a kid and saw The Empire Strikes Back for the first time, this line from Yoda always resonated with me: “Do, or do not, there is no try.” Yoda was not, by any stretch of the

Did You Take Action?

This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.   When you had the opportunity, did you take action? What do I mean by that?  It’s actually very simple.  Did you do that thing you planned to do?  The question is a matter of taking a plan – the thought; figuring out how to do it – the feeling; doing it – the action. A lot of us are really good at coming up with ideas and

What Do You Desire for Today?

What will I find that I desire for today? Though today may have many similarities to yesterday, it will still be different. That’s because every single day of our lives is unique.  I know that that doesn’t always feel true, but it absolutely is. The ambient temperature, humidity and pressure are different.  We likely are wearing different clothing.  What we eat will vary.  Yes, these are all really small, seemingly insignificant things, but the devil is in the details.  All

Is There an Albatross Around Your Neck?

Is there an albatross around your neck? What does that even mean?  First, the albatross has been a sign of good luck to sailors for centuries.  As such, killing one is considered to be bad luck.  In the old poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, because the narrator killed an albatross, his fellow sailors made him wear it around his neck. As such, it references the notion that you have a burden weighing you down.
