Positivity: Compassion Overcomes Fear

Compassion overcomes fear. Following the results of last week’s election, a lot of people have become fearful for the future.  It is certainly understandable why, given the overall uncertainty and emboldened hate groups. But it has also shown how compassionate, loving and dependable people can be. I have witnessed numerous people pledge to stand by those who most feel under threat.  I have seen countless examples of people offering to stand up and keep friends and loved ones safe and

Positivity: Remember that WE ARE ALL ONE

When all is said and done, WE ARE ALL ONE. Do you know how amazing it is that despite all our differences, we are all the same? That is the truth.  It does not matter what gender, nationality, religion, political affiliation, skin color or otherwise you are…we are all one. Energy.  Each and every one of us is energy.  At our core we are light and energy.  As Yoda said, quite accurately, “Luminous beings are we…not this crude matter.” Finding

Crossing the Bridges: Knowing the Path vs Walking the Path

Frequently I have claimed to suffer from ADOS.  ADOS = Attention Deficit…Oooooooooh, Shiny! (I do not claim this phrase as my own, someone else I know put it out there, not me – but I use it rather a lot). This is not so much a medical disorder, as it is an inability to focus or keep one’s eyes on the prize or to get pulled in a million directions or… Be right back.  Something else has my attention at

Positivity: Generosity

Generosity is amazing. When people give of themselves, whether it is a thing or things or just time, the generosity they present is incredibly positive. Generosity allows us to work together to build amazing, incredible things.  When we are generous, we are spreading love and light and positivity to others, and I know that for me, at least, it always feels good. When a friend offers you somewhere to stay on a trip; when you tip your wait staff at

Positivity: A metaphor for Safety

Even with the safety harness, you don’t want to lose your balance and fall. I recently did a “treetop” ropes course.  Various obstacles to be crossed, thirty-five feet in the air, including rope bridges and tightropes and other challenging constructs.  You cross the obstacles from platform to platform in a harness on a secure line, but you still don’t want to fall. It occurs to me, however, that this is an interesting metaphor of our lives.  Even when we fall,

Positivity: Combating Lethargy

Some days you wake up, and you are ready to go. Some days you awaken, and you just don’t want to get out of bed. There are mornings where it is all about being energized.  Happy, looking forward to the day, ready to face anything that comes your way. There ae mornings where it is all about the snooze button.  Don’t want to get out of bed.  Don’t want to go to work.  Ready to face nothing and wishing to

Positivity: Changing Habits

Habits can be changed. What is a habit?  A habit is a thing you do regularly, to the point where it is almost involuntary.  You just do it, hardly thinking about it.  It is your way. Some habits are neutral, like bathing and napping and using the blinker in your car to signal lane changes.  Some are good, like holding doors for people, changing empty toilet paper rolls and picking up litter.  Some are bad, like smoking or always interrupting

Jealousy is a useless emotion. Our emotions serve numerous purposes.  They let us feel beyond intellect, beyond the most basic knowledge into a far broader world.  Our wide gamut of emotions is part of what makes each of us so unique. Most emotions serve a purpose.  They let us know if we are in a positive or negative mindset.  They let us express ourselves beyond words, facial expressions, and any other physical gestures.  Emotions cover a vast array of topics,

No matter how many answers you come up with, there are always more questions. This, however, is a very good thing. Life is constantly changing.  There are always new things to discover, to learn, to experience.  Even when day after day is largely similar, there are always going to be moments where there is new and different and unique. Thus there are always questions.  Even when you find answers to your questions, you still get more questions.  I am going

A tiger cannot change its stripes, they say. Some people firmly believe that people in general are incapable of changing.  I am here to tell you that this is bullshit. ANYBODY can change.  Period.  The main issue is – do you want to change? You may question why I am emphasizing want.  That is because even if you need change, you have to WANT it to make it happen.  It is only with a deep, emotional desire to change that
