Does Self-Care Create Positivity?
Self-care is empowering.
When we do things to care for our own health and wellbeing, we provide ourselves with the ability to give more to others.
Self-care is not selfish.
When we take care of our own needs; comfort; intellectual, emotional and physical stimulation, we actually are empowering ourselves to give more to others.
Our smartphones can do incredible things. They can find directions, connect us to friends and family, get us information across the globe, provide hours of entertainment, and so much more. But, in time, they need to be recharged, or they become bricks or paperweights.
Human beings are not dissimilar. We often neglect our own batteries, and when we give and give without taking the time to recharge, we become pretty useless, too. Why? Because when we do not charge our own batteries, we eventually get exhausted, sick, or worse.
Self-care is a recharge of the human battery. It takes many forms, but it is essential for each and every one of us to care for ourselves.
Self-care includes super-simple things like taking a walk, reading a book, writing a blog, gardening, spending time in the sun or the water, time with friends and family, sleep, eating a delicious meal, sex, meditation, and so forth. Or it can be complex, like taking a vacation, buying a car, starting a business, marrying or divorcing, etc.
Whatever form it takes, self-care matters because it allows us to recharge. When we are fully charged, just like our smartphones, we can provide more to ourselves, as well as everyone around us in any number of ways.
Self-care is self-love.
When it comes to conscious reality creation, self-care is akin to weight-lifting. It gives us additional strength in order to move greater mass, and manifest incredible things.
We all strive to love and be loved. It is easier to give love when we have love for ourselves. Self-care is about showing ourselves love and kindness, which recharges our batteries and provides us with more.
Self-care is NOT selfish. I am reemphasizing this because in today’s society we are frequently bombarded with stories of greed, corruption, narcissism and countless other examples of extreme selfishness. As such, we shy away from taking much for ourselves because we don’t want to contribute to this awfulness. But when all we do is give, without taking time to recharge, we will run out of power, just like our smartphones.
Please know that you are worthy and deserving of self-care. You have every right to do things that make you feel good, because when you feel good, you are empowered to reach out and make other people feel good, too. Care for yourself so that you can care more for others in the world around you.
Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.
Knowing that self-care provides a necessary recharge of our inner resources, we can joyfully do things that will build ourselves up. When we care for ourselves and recharge our human batteries, we give ourselves more love to pass to others, and in this way we empower ourselves. When we feel empowered, we often spread that feeling to others around us, and as such can build more positive feelings. We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings. When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for. Gratitude leads to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude. Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
