Positivity: Cleaning
Sometimes it seems like a chore, but there is nothing like cleaning to create a more positive environment.
When you clear away the clutter, vacuum up the dirt, dust the shelves, whatever you do to clean your space, it changes the feeling. That change can create a huge amount of positivity.
I find that when I let my space go; when the clutter on my desk becomes a precarious stack of paper and and books and stuff – I find it harder to concentrate. It is difficult for me to work on whatever projects I might have before me, and my concentration fails easily.
When I cannot concentrate it is hard to get work done. This frustrates and upsets me, and when I get frustrated and upset I start to feel negative…and you can probably guess what happens from here. Once I feel bad, it is a challenge to reclaim feeling good.
Dusting the particles off my desk and my shelves, vacuuming the carpets, clearing off all that accumulated paper makes me feel better. It clears my space up and refreshes and renews it.
Cleaning your space goes beyond the physical environment you are in. It opens up fresh channels, allows in new energy. Though I am majorly over-simplifying the concept, this is part of the root of the notion of feng shui. The way you keep your space will help you to draw in good energies.
Have you ever noticed how good you feel when you get out of the bath or shower, fresh and clean? Isn’t that the same sensation when the space you occupy, whether you home or car or office, is cleansed? What we do in our physical space will have an often surprising effect on our mental and emotional state. As such, cleaning makes us feel better.
For some there is catharsis in cleaning. The act itself is a pathway to taking time to examine one’s situations, to explore your own space in a more critical way. How often when you clean do you uncover something you were not expecting, but that was misplaced sometime before? The physical change opens up doors to the emotional, and anything that helps us to feel good is a positive energy factor.
Finding positivity is not hard, it just requires action. Knowing that cleaning has not only a physical effect on us, but also a mental and emotional one, the act can go a long way towards changing how we feel. When we know that cleaning can help remove not only clutter and disorder, but negativity, we can help to dissolve negative feelings. When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for. Gratitude leads to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude. Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
