Positivity: Gratitude
Gratitude has the power to change the world.
Lately I have seen many people online participating in sharing daily gratitude. There is nothing in the world quite so powerful as gratitude to build positivity.
Expressing what you are grateful for is about as pure a positive act as you can create. Taking note of and stating the things you are grateful for is always positivity.
Recognizing the good things you have in your life and giving thanks for them is incredibly powerful. It can give you a sense of perspective that is surprisingly easy to forget; but when you start to give thanks you almost always inadvertently find more and more things to be grateful for.
Gratitude can be expressed for the tangible and intangible, material and immaterial, on levels great and small and everything in between. The act of finding things for which to be grateful can stir a lot of emotions, but these emotions should be positive ones.
It is tremendously difficult to make improvements and changes in your life without being grateful for what you already have. I know first hand how hard that can be, in especial when you are fighting uphill battles or dealing with a lot of negativity. But nonetheless expressing your gratitude for the people, places, situations and things already in your life goes a long way towards finding, acquiring and changing to new ones.
How does it make you feel when you hear the words “thank you?” Doesn’t it feel good to be thanked? When you reverse that and you are the one offering thanks, doesn’t it feel good to BE thankful? When you don’t just go through the motions of offering gratitude but genuinely FEEL grateful, it is a powerful source of positive energy. Feeling thankful, grateful, appreciative, or whatever other emotion of gratitude you create is a boost of positivity you are putting out into the world at large.
Every religion, every spiritual guide, every new-age or hooky-spooky guru, every instructor of self improvement, every concept for how to live life to its fullest employs gratitude. All of them. Why? Because there is nothing as potent as expressing gratitude for generating positivity. There is nothing like the power of expressing your thankfulness and gratitude to build positive energy and ultimately to find more good and happiness in your life.
Finding positivity is not hard, it just requires action. Knowing that gratitude is the most powerful means to generate positive energy, you can begin to express it more frequently. More frequently expressing thankfulness and gratitude for the life we have will open up new avenues to building bigger and better things for which to be grateful, and ultimately it opens our hearts, our minds and our spirits. When we are feeling gratitude, and expressing that to ourselves and the world around us, this helps us in generating a positive attitude. Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
This is the thirty first entry of my Positivity series. It is my hope these weekly messages might help spread positive energies for everyone. Feel free to re-blog and spread the positivity.
