Positivity: Generosity
Generosity is amazing.
When people give of themselves, whether it is a thing or things or just time, the generosity they present is incredibly positive.
Generosity allows us to work together to build amazing, incredible things. When we are generous, we are spreading love and light and positivity to others, and I know that for me, at least, it always feels good.
When a friend offers you somewhere to stay on a trip; when you tip your wait staff at the restaurant better than 20%; when you help jumpstart a stranger’s car or help them change a tire; when you give full-sized candy bars instead of those tiny ones to the kids at Halloween, you both feel good and share that immense positivity.
It doesn’t necessarily cost us anything to be generous. It can be a gesture of kindness that goes above and beyond simply giving a minimal amount of anything.
You might smile for your friends and acquaintances, but it is generosity to smile kindly at strangers. Generosity is giving more, and generosity is part of abundance.
When you give, you tell the Universe that you have plenty, and you want to share it. The Universe responds by giving YOU more, so you can share more. Like attracts like, and generosity will attract generosity back to you. Giving from a place of abundance attracts more abundance.
Of course there are times when you are feeling low, when you read about acts of unbelievable selfishness, greed, stinginess and worse. Generosity, however, is not necessarily material, and the act of being generous to others opens positive energy channels, and will make you feel better.
Generosity shouldn’t feel forced, and it should not be expected, but it should simply be. Consider how much you appreciate when people are generous to YOU, whether with material or immaterial matters. Knowing that, you can see that your own generosity will feel good both for yourself, and for whomever you are sharing it with.
Because that’s the best part about being generous. It is true, two-way positivity. You both give and receive that good energy from acts of generosity. That this one act can generate so much positivity makes me wonder why people do not strive to be more generous in their everyday dealings with the world.
This simple extra action can change anyone’s days for the better. Doesn’t that sound appealing?
Finding positivity is not hard, it just requires action. Knowing that being generous can be material or immaterial, grand or small, we can act with greater generosity to build more positivity. When we are generous with our time, our love, our kindness or our money and things, we make the people we are generous to feel good, and in the process make ourselves feel good, and as such we empower ourselves. When we feel empowered, we often spread that feeling to others around us, and as such can build more positive feelings. We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings. When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for. Gratitude leads to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude. Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
