Positivity: Moonlight

If sunlight provides fuel by day, moonlight provides fuel by night.

The moon had been personified in song and story in so very many ways.  Sometimes called He, sometimes called She, the moon is more to us than simply an immense rock orbiting the Earth and effecting our tides.  The moon is a quintessential part of the lore of almost every culture in the world.

The moon has its many phases, showing us different shapes and faces.  Crescent, half, full or new, the moon is ever-present, no matter how much of the sun’s light it reflects back to us, and no matter what time of the month we are measuring.  Many cultures measure time with the cycles of the moon.

The moon can be seen in many colors.  These can cause the natural satellite to be named Harvest Moon, Blue Moon, Blood Moon and so forth.  The moon at night is a source of inspiration equal in power to the sun in day.

Many years ago, during a canoe trip down the Delaware River in New York state, we laid out our sleeping bags to camp for the night.  We watched in wonder as the moon arose over the river, larger than the sun, impossibly close, impossibly bright.  The moon dominated the night sky, and made it nearly as bright as day.

The moon is the inspiration of innumerable songs and stories.  The full moon, for example, is the trigger of lycanthropes, turning them into wondrous and terrible creatures prowling the night.

The moon has on many a night provided me with a source of well being, and suffused me with positive energy.  The moon has been a guide, both physical and spiritual, on many a journey.

I find that even if I am feeling alone, dismayed, disturbed, or otherwise discontent, a warm night bathed in moonlight will reawaken my positive energies.  Whether it is dominating the sky or blending in with the stars, moonlight brings a sense of peace and wellbeing that can go an incredible distance in the generation of Positivity.

Finding positivity is not hard, it just requires action.  Knowing that you have that beacon of warmth and comfort in the dark of night reinforces your positive energies.  This natural wonder of our world reflects light when the sun has crossed below the horizon, and a sense of renewal and restoration to the mind, the body, and the soul through the darkness.  Moonlight can inspire and amaze, stir wonder and amazement, and all of these things build up Positivity.  Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
