Doesn’t Everyone Know That/Can’t Everyone Do That?
Just because you know something and can do something easily doesn’t mean that’s how it is for everyone.
The written word comes easily to me. I sit down at my keyboard and start tapping away, the words come and my thoughts take me to many interesting places.
Some of those places are totally fantasy, invented of characters, situations, and places in my head. These get turned into my works of fiction. Others become articles about mindfulness, conscious reality creation, positivity, and numerous other non-fiction topics.
Writing is just something I know. Putting words to the page or screen is easy. It brings me comfort and makes me happy.
That’s me. But there are lots of others out there who can’t write without a step-by-step outline. Then there are those who can only write over a long, slow slog that takes tons of effort and concentration (in the time they write a single thing, I’ve written several). Finally, there are people for whom writing is torture, uncomfortable and a maker of misery.
The path I am choosing for my life takes the talent that comes easiest to me to the next level. But just because I thought this was something that everyone knows or can do this doesn’t mean that they can.
Chances are, you have something of this nature within you, too.
Everybody has talents, abilities, and skills
I have several friends who are gifted, talented artists. Pen and ink and paint can be turned into incredible works of art I simply cannot fathom.
Then there are my friends with talents in fabric arts. They can take any kind of fabric and create incredible outfits from many different time periods. I, on the other hand, can’t conceive of fabric in three-dimensions.
I have an affinity and some talent in computers and IT. But I have friends who make me look like the guy who calls tech-support because he can’t find the “Any” key to push to continue. I have some advanced woodworking skills, yet I know talented craftspeople and carpenters who can design and make unbelievable creations.
You likely have abilities that come easily to you. Chances are there is something you think everyone else can do, so it doesn’t make you particularly special. But that is probably not the truth. What you consider trivial might be the trial of the century for someone else.
Most people, at some point or other in their life, search for their calling or callings. They look for the thing or things they are here to do and make their mark in the world.
Some people figure it out and make it happen. Others figure it out but haven’t made it happen or can’t figure out how to do so. Still others figure it out, but for one reason or another let it go for something else which may be better, or not.
And of course, some don’t work it out at all.
Whatever the case may be, you have talents, abilities, and skills. But sometimes what comes easily to you does not come easily to others.
You are not in competition
I know that this society is a fear-based society. To me, this is really obvious. But to other people, that’s not obvious at all.
Because you may have come to accept the fear being fed to you almost intravenously, it’s not obvious that it’s so dominant. Maybe your focus is more fixed and specific than my broader attention, so you don’t see it like I do.
Well, one of the most insidious aspects of this fear-based society is the constant focus on lack, scarcity, and not enough. The notion that resources are scarce, that there is not enough of this thing or that to go around, and that your life is full of lacking for the tangibles and intangibles you do not have is completely a product of the fear-based society. Lack, scarcity, and not enough plays on your fears like a virtuoso at the piano.
What’s more, lack, scarcity, and not enough create competition. Competition to get those scarce resources, whether material or immaterial, before they run out; to take and hoard it all because there isn’t enough and you have to keep what you have; to show your worth by not lacking in that thing or concept or whatever it is.
But the truth is, this is an abundant Universe. There is way more than enough, and you are not in competition with anyone else for things.
Because you are not in competition with anyone else, if you choose to pursue that thing you can do that not everyone else can, do so with enthusiasm, passion, and vigor.
Make choices and decisions with what you know
You may have thought that what you find easy everyone finds easy. Knowing that’s not so, you get to choose if it’s something that you desire to do more with.
Whatever you do, in order to live the best life that you can, and be the best you that you can be, you need to decide to make choices to make that happen. It might seem super obvious, yet it’s amazing how easy it can be to just go about with whatever happens along the way.
When you desire to live with passion and find the things that light you up you can create an amazing life. It takes a lot of focus and work, but it’s worth it.
After you recognize and acknowledge that the thing or things you know that not everyone knows, you get to decide if it is something to pursue to advance and make the most of your life. You get to make choices to do something with it…or not.
If you are not content with who you are now, this may be a means to the end of becoming more whole, complete, and content with yourself. This is practicing Pathwalking and directing your life to where you really want it to go. You have the power, are empowered to use it, and you are worthy and deserving of whatever pursuit you desire to make.
What do you know and what is obvious to you that others may not find to be so?
This is the four-hundred and fifth entry in my series. These weekly posts are ideas for, and my personal experiences with, walking along the path of life to consciously create reality. I share this journey as part of my desire to make a difference in this world along the way. I also desire to empower myself and my readers with conscious reality creation.
Thank you for joining me. Feel free to re-blog and share this.
