Every Day Can Be a New Opportunity
Every Day Can Be a New Opportunity

No matter what’s happening in the world at large, this is true.
Sometimes, it feels like all that’s happening in the world is terrible things. Another unthinkable, insane act on the part of the US Government. The latest awful move on the part of Putin and Netanyahu. Friends and family terrified they’ll be targeted, because nothing is certain.
When it comes to other people, no matter if they’re remote or close, there is little to nothing you or I can do for them. I can offer ideas, suggestions, assistance, and that’s about it. You’re in the same situation. That, however, feels inadequate if you have even the slightest amount of empathy.
It’s easy to fall into doom and gloom, sadness, frustration, and negativity. But, like most things, this is a choice you get to make. Sure, you might genuinely be in a lousy situation with more negativity than positivity and limitations, but unless you’re dead, you still have options.
Positivity and negativity are not opposite sides of a coin. Instead, they’re the opposite ends of a flexible cylinder. This is for 2 reasons. First, because most people, places, and things exist somewhere between positive and negative and face one way or the other. Second, because sometimes, what’s positive today is negative tomorrow and vice versa.
Because the direction you face is a choice, that means you decide who, what, where, how, and why you are and the approach you take. Hence, you get to choose which direction to face. Along that line, you can choose to see every new day as another slog or a new opportunity.
Extenuating circumstances and what you can’t control
The first hurdle to making any choices or decisions is recognizing extenuating circumstances. The options I have as a middle-aged white cisgender male can and will vary from those of a young black transgender female, which can and will vary from those of a middle-aged cisgender Hispanic female. This is due to society, culture, and numerous other extenuating circumstances.
Options might vary because all of us have faced and overcome different hurdles, obstacles, challenges, and the like. How anybody approaches life, the universe, and everything will be impacted by extenuating circumstances tied to various labels and other artifices.
Then there are the things you can’t control. When all is said and done, this is everything not directly involving you and your inner being. Even your exterior, like weight, hair color, and so on, changes only when you choose via your mindset/headspace/psyche self to change it.
A lot of false ideas about being able to sway, influence, and ultimately control things outside of yourself are out there. Many of the goods and services people try to sell you are pitched as being able to make people – other than you – think a certain way about you. Guess how much you control the impression others have of you? None at all.
However, once you recognize and acknowledge extenuating circumstances and what you can’t control, you can apply active conscious awareness (mindfulness) to choose how you approach any given day. You choose if today is going to be a nearly insurmountable challenge or full of potential, possibility, and opportunity.
It’s not selfish or hypocritical to view a day as a new opportunity
It’s all too easy to think that taking any type of positive action or approach for yourself is bad. Look at all the examples in the world today of selfishness, hypocrisy, and uncaring on display.
When you accept that the world is a terrible, awful, no-good, challenging place, you’re feeding the machine. Consciousness creates reality, and so long as you allow the negativity to be dominant, you’ll get that.
No, you can’t just make it go away, turn a blind eye to it, or pretend it’s not there. It is. The world is a crazy place. Genuine positivity recognizes and acknowledges negativity because it’s a part of life, the universe, and everything. Positivity often results from something negative spurring action.
You get to choose how to approach every day. Sometimes you will do so with fear, trepidation, and concern. Other times, you’ll just go with the flow because you’re exhausted, brain-fried, and need to autopilot through. Still other times, you choose and decide to look for potential, possibility, and opportunity.
It is not selfish or hypocritical to choose this. Why? Because when you make conscious choices and decisions and look toward the positive end of the spectrum, you’re empowered. When you’re empowered, you take your power and make your life how you desire it to be.
This is not a one-and-done operation. It’s daily. And that, to some, is too much.

Every day is a new day
It’s easy to fall into the trap of mediocrity and limitations. When you see how little you can do for the world at large, this can make you lose hope, feel sad, frustrated, and turn toward the negative. For many, this leads to just existing, zombie-like, from one day to the next.
This, however, is a choice. Likewise, you can look for the next terrible thing, expect the next difficult and unpleasant challenge, and be prepared for whatever disasters await. This is also about the choices and decisions you make.
OR, ultimately, you can recognize and acknowledge that shit is happening in the world. Good people are being subjected to horrible things. You, however, can choose and decide to find potential, possibility, and opportunity. From that, you can improve your life, center and balance your experience, and act to impact the world beyond you.
I do that by writing these blogs. Why? Because I believe that sharing the concepts of genuine positivity, mindfulness, and the power of choice opens imaginations and doors to choose empowerment. I’m not perfect, I screw this up regularly, but I still choose to work on seeing new opportunity in every day. Some days are harder than others, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have the choices and decisions available to be the most genuine, authentic me I can be, and help show you how that empowers.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this. It’s my hope that these insights I share help you. Thank you for letting me have this moment of your precious time.
Discerning how every day can be a new opportunity isn’t hard
It’s all about practicing active conscious awareness (mindfulness) of your thoughts, feelings, intentions, and the positivity or negativity of your approach to direct your actions.
When you recognize and acknowledge that you choose and decide if you will approach any given day as one of opportunity or one of difficulty, you open yourself to mindfulness. Knowing that you are the only one who can ultimately decide who, what, where, how, and why you are, you can choose and decide to face toward nontoxic positivity and seek opportunity alongside potential and possibility.
This empowers you. When you’re empowered, that can, in turn, empower others around you.
Consciously choosing your approach to life towards positivity or negativity — from the vast cylinder that exists between them — shifts life in ways that open you to more potential, possibility, and the like. From there, you can recognize, explore, and share where you are between the extremes and how that impacts you in the here and now.
The better aware you are of yourself, here and now, the better you can choose and decide what, how, and why your life experiences will be. When you empower yourself, it can spread to those around you and empower them, too. That is an amazing conduit to help reason overcome fear in the collective consciousness.
Thank you for coming along on this journey.
