Nontoxic Positivity is a Tool of Empowerment

When you’re empowered, you become more capable overall.

It is far too easy to go down a rabbit hole of negativity. Spend any amount of time on any social media channel, and you’ll likely wind up doomscrolling if you don’t self-edit.

While this can, on the surface, seem innocuous, it very quickly becomes problematic. That’s because doomscrolling leads to negativity. And negativity, unchecked, disempowers us.

That’s because negativity is made of low-frequency energy, which pulls you down and makes you feel uncomfortable, uncertain, sad, angry, hopeless, and possibly worse. It’s not long before you question if there’s anything you can do about any of it.

They, the nameless, faceless “they,” prefer us that way. Because when people feel angry and hopeless, they’re much easier to manipulate. Manipulated people will buy into the idea that hurting the other guy somehow makes them stronger (spoiler alert – it does not). Disempowered people get misdirected and their fears justified, then put through an endless loop as what little energy they have stays at a low frequency.

Nobody else can empower you. They can give you tools and ideas, but not actual empowerment. That comes from within. One way to develop and build that is via applied mindfulness. But to raise your frequency and move away from negativity, you need nontoxic positivity.

Empowerment via mindfulness

Everyone is of three minds. The unconscious, subconscious, and conscious.

The unconscious mind is what drives your organs, fires your neurons, moves oxygen through your blood, keeps your heart beating, and so on. You have almost no control here, save that you can alter the depth of your breathing and slow or accelerate your heart. But that’s done via acts of the conscious mind.

The subconscious mind is where your beliefs, values, habits, and memories live. It’s a sponge that endlessly absorbs all it’s exposed to. And like a sponge, when you don’t clean it, it becomes oversaturated and stinky. It can drive your life via rote and routine, which can be good for certain repetitive things but bad for other matters. Too much subconscious living disempowers you.

The conscious mind is you, right here and now, and your ability to sense the world around you and your inner mindset/headspace/psyche self. Via your conscious mind, you can make current, active choices and decisions to drive who, what, where, how, and why you are. Ultimately, that empowers you.

Mindfulness is active conscious awareness, here and now, of your six senses combined with your thoughts, feelings, intentions, approach, and actions. When you’re mindful, you’re empowered and can choose and decide on directions for your life experience.

If, however, you’re in a loop of negativity, it’s hard to feel empowered because your energetic frequency is low. A great way to raise that is with nontoxic positivity.

The power of nontoxic positivity

The biggest mistake proponents of positivity make is ignoring how it can be toxic. How can positivity be toxic? By ignoring, disregarding, and outright pretending negativity doesn’t exist. When positivity is all about putting on blinders to reality, it’s toxic.

Bad people are doing bad things to people far too close to home for comfort. Too many of the people who should be protecting us aren’t. Cruelty, unkindness, and a lack of empathy are being normalized in massively unhealthy ways. Pretending this isn’t so doesn’t make it go away or resolve it.

Yet the world isn’t all doom and gloom. It might be difficult to see it otherwise, but there are small things that matter more than you might realize, which are elements of positivity that can raise your energetic frequency. This is where nontoxic positivity comes in.

Nontoxic positivity is about finding things to look to for empowerment. For example, if you’re reading these words, you have helpful technology you can use to learn, grow, and change your life. You’re alive, which means there are choices and decisions available to drive your life to good places. You’re empowered to choose and decide who, what, where, how, and why.

It might be imperfect. Decisions and choices might be small things and not a big deal. Yet every time you make use of this, you build further empowerment. The more you’re empowered, the more powerful you become. And then, “they” lose their ability to manipulate.

Empowerment is always a beacon others can use to find their own. Nontoxic positivity applied in the here and now helps empower.

You’re worthy and deserving of this

Despite the messages to the contrary, nobody is more worthy or deserving than anyone else. But let’s call it what it really is. Nobody is better than anyone else.

We are all human beings. All human beings are perfectly imperfect. Everyone has good days and bad days, triumphs and disasters, success and failure, gain and loss, and any other opposite extremes you can imagine.

The color of your skin, gender, nationality, religion, social status, sexual orientation, and other similar labels don’t make anyone better than anyone else. Nobody is inherently more worthy or deserving than anyone else. You are worthy and deserving of choosing and deciding what your life looks like.

Making someone else suffer, for the record, leads to you getting the same. That’s the nature of reality. Doing harm brings harm. Empowerment is not about taking away from others to enrich you and yours. It’s about applying your thoughts, feelings, intentions, approach, and actions to be, do, and have the life you desire. And you are not more or less worthy or deserving of that than anyone else.

Finally, the more people who are empowered, the more beacons of light the world gets to make things better. If you don’t believe me, look at the takers and haters like Trump, their scowls, and how miserable they seem at every turn. Then look at the givers and hopers like Mamdani, their smiles, and how hopeful they seem. It’s pretty obvious which of them is a beacon and which isn’t.

Empowerment is yours when you make mindful choices and decisions. Applying nontoxic positivity to that raises your frequency and helps you do, have, and be your best. And you’re worthy and deserving of nothing less than that.

Applying nontoxic positivity to empower yourself isn’t hard

It’s all about practicing active conscious awareness (mindfulness) of your thoughts, feelings, intentions, and the positivity or negativity of your approach to direct your actions.

Recognizing and acknowledging that there are bad things in the world is part of how choosing nontoxic positivity to raise your vibrational frequency helps you live your life on your terms. Knowing that nontoxic positivity is a key to choosing and deciding who, what, where, how, and why you ultimately desire to be, you can utilize that to build, develop, and grow your self-sovereignty.

This empowers you. When you’re empowered, that can, in turn, empower others around you. That’s why I share these weekly posts with you.

Consciously choosing your approach to life towards positivity or negativity — from the vast cylinder that exists between them — shifts life in ways that open you to more potential, possibility, and the like. From there, you can recognize, explore, and share where you are between the extremes and how that impacts you in the here and now.

The more aware you are of yourself in the present, the better you can choose and decide what, how, and why your life experiences will be. When you empower yourself, it can spread to those around you and empower them, too. That is an amazing conduit to help reason overcome fear in the collective consciousness.

Thank you for coming along on this journey.
