Does Optimism Generate Positivity?
Optimism is a good thing.
Having an optimistic outlook on life, the universe and everything is at least forty-two times better than not. If consciousness creates reality, then it goes to follow that if we have a negative outlook, we draw more negativity to us.
Optimism and positivity go hand-in-hand. Both also suffer from a similar stigma. Many people see optimism and positivity as being pie-in-the-sky, rose-colored glasses wearing ideals. Sunshine and rainbows, flights of fancy with no roots in reality.
Why do we so easily snark about this? When did we decide that feeling positive and being optimistic were silly, unrealistic, and foolish? I know that our world is full of uncertainty, concern, and questions. Yet I can’t quite fathom when it was we determined that there was something wrong with people who aren’t jaded, accepting of the world as it seems, and so on.
I have gotten caught up in this a lot. For a long time, I called myself a cynical optimist. Truth was that it was more skepticism than cynicism, but really it’s both. And what I failed to realize is that I had ceased to be an optimist. Not because I became a pessimist…no, more because I became a skeptic and a cynic.
I became a skeptic due to being full of doubt about all sorts of matters great and small. Though I believe in the Law of Attraction, for example, I doubt my own capabilities to make it work. I became a cynic because I became distrustful of all sorts of matters immense and tiny. Though I know that consciousness creates reality, I don’t trust in the Universe enough to accept all it can be. Doubt and distrust go hand in hand, and are both negative feelings. Hard to be optimistic with such thoughts.
Optimism is not futile.
We live in interesting times. As such, being optimistic can be particularly challenging. Like when we are looking at governmental corruption and greed, threats to safety and security, inequality, and so on. When you are bombarded by all the negativity out there, finding positivity and optimism is not just challenging, but can feel utterly impossible.
We can manifest a better world. If we stop to consider what we are thinking, and how it is making us feel, we can find positivity. When our thoughts are optimistic, rather than pessimistic, they raise our frequency, and help us create amazing, wondrous things.
A slight amount of skepticism is healthy for critical thinking. But it is important to not allow it to dominate and overwhelm. There are so many things to be optimistic about. We have technologies that can make our lives amazing in ever-increasingly unimaginable ways. We can connect with one-another across the globe, and share the ability to manifest a better world instantaneously.
Keep in mind, for all the bad, ugly, disheartening news and info across social media and such, there are good people doing great things. People help their neighbors, and march together for righteous causes. People help the sick, and homeless strangers, and give unconditional love. Being optimistic that we can improve the world we live in feels positive. Being optimistic opens the door for hope. I know I prefer feeling hopeful to feeling hopeless, don’t you?
Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.
Knowing that optimism builds positivity, and gives us hope, we can work on feeling more optimistic about the present to bring in a better future. When we feel optimistic, it is a positive force, and brings hope when we face hopelessness, and ultimately drives us to empower ourselves. When we feel empowered, we often spread that feeling to others around us, and as such can build more positive feelings. We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings. When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for. Gratitude leads to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude. Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
