Positivity: We Go On
We go on.
The world turns, and things happen out there which we have little to no control over. It’s easy to get caught up in politics, wars, social injustices, celebrities, and all sorts of other matters that we are not much more than voyeurs of. Yet we personalize these matters, let them affect our everyday lives, and often allow them to dominate our consciousness.
It is important to be informed, and it’s a good idea to know what is going on out there…but when there is only so much we can do about it, we need to not let it live our lives for us.
The world is always going to present us with situations that cause fear, loathing, concern and upset. That’s what happens when there are 7 billion individuals with different life experiences, thought processes, dreams and goals. It is far too easy to get caught up in all of it, and in the process to ignore our individual selves, our own contentment and happiness.
That’s why it’s important to remember that no matter what happens out there, we go on. Yes, one day that will cease to be true, but until it happens we WILL go on, every single day.
What’s more, we get to choose what sort of day to have. We get to decide when we start the day if we want to strive for a good day, a bad day, a cruddy day, or an awesome day. It’s much more of a choice than we often acknowledge, but it IS a choice, and we get to make it, each and every day.
We go on. No matter what is happening out there in the world at large, good, bad or otherwise, we go on. This is hugely positive, because every single day has potential. Every single day can be whatever we choose to make it out to be. Choose love, choose hate, choose joy or misery, choose fear or bravery, choose to take care of the things directly within your control or choose to let those outside things dominate your thoughts, feelings and actions.
We go on. Today might suck, tomorrow could suck, hell every day ahead of us could be terrible, but this is largely only true if we choose to let it be like that. We have the option to choose better, to seek out things that make us feel good, to take actions that will help us feel good about the here-and-now, and that even when it’s not good it can be better. We go on, and that’s an excellent, incredible tool for creating more positivity.
Finding positivity is not hard, it just requires action. Knowing that we go on, we can focus on the good we have, the good we want, and not let the things out of our control dominate our lives. When we recognize that we go on, despite what is happening in the world around us, we can seize control – and with that control we empower ourselves. When we feel empowered, we often spread that feeling to others around us, and as such can build more positive feelings in the collective consciousness. We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings. When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for. Gratitude leads to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude. Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
