How Do You Think, Feel and Act on Positivity?

You can think positive all you want.  However, if you put nothing behind it, no energy, feeling, or action, it will be ineffective.

ThinkI am pretty sure that everything has at one point or another been exposed to the notion of the “power of positive thinking”.  On the surface, the idea that if you think good and positive thoughts, life will be better in numerous ways.

Too easy, right?  Well, that’s not untrue.  Think whatever you want, positive or negative, but without corresponding feeling, you can’t manifest anything at all.

When I began writing positivity almost four years ago, it was in reaction to posts all across social media of almost hopeless negativity.  I wanted to offer a different, positive perspective, in order to provide an alternative to the prevailing attitude.

Positivity follows the basic principles of conscious reality creation.  THINK positive, yes, but also FEEL positive and make an intentional ACT from there.  Thinking positive is a third of the equation, and if you do not feel it, you won’t act on it, and positivity will not be generated.

In the current climate of our world, this is really hard.  Our government is doing unspeakably awful things against the people they are supposed to be representing.  Corporate greed is surreal.  The world stage is fairly messy, and let’s not even go into any detail about climate change, revelations of sexual harassers, and so on.

Pretty daunting, right?  It is.  Yet still, finding positivity among all of this negativity is imperative.  I am in no way advocating ignoring these issues.  But rather than give them a ton of attention and endless focus, we need to seek positive things to think and feel about.  Like attracts like.  Want more good things, or bad?  I know which I prefer.

Think, feel, and act on positivity in the here-and-now.

Society has an unhealthy obsession with the past and the future.  I am unsure why, but that’s how we operate.  When we place our energies in the here-and-now, though, we gain awareness of the world around us, but more than that we become aware of ourselves.  This is where generating positivity is most important.

Think, Feel, ActWhen you ask yourself How am I feeling? or What am I thinking? or the like, you immediately become aware of the now.  When you are aware of the now, you know what your prevailing thoughts are.  It is here-and-now that you can at least take a moment to think, feel, and act on positivity.

It may not seem like much, but every major change begins with a single, small step.

Think and feel positivity.  Action will come of that, and we can improve the world around us in this way.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that to think positive is just the beginning, we can work from there to feel it as well.  When we take the thought of positivity and feel it, then act upon it, we can make it manifest, and with that we empower ourselves.  When we feel empowered, we frequently spread that feeling to others around us; as such, we can build more positive feelings in the collective consciousness.  We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings.  When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for.  Gratitude leads to happiness.  Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude.  Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.

How Can Change Generate Positivity?

Change is inevitable, but can be a huge source of positivity.

Let’s face it.  Everything changes.  The world evolves, and whether you want to admit it or no, change is going to occur.

ChangeSeasons change.  The weather changes.  We humans have a unique ability to change our clothes, our homes, our lives, and our minds.  Changes just are.

Often we just let change occur.  The world is turning, things happen.  Sometimes we accept this.  Other times, we resist it.

It’s important to recognize positive resistance versus negative resistance.  There is a difference.  Marching to protest unjust policy, writing and calling members of Congress, petitioning and other forms of resistance are positive, and a focus for directing changes.

Holding onto the past, trying to force matters into an unnatural shape, standing against progress, or holding tightly to a disproven belief and similar forms of resistance are negative, and present obstacles to change.  Obstructing will seldom, if ever, get you where you want to go.

Renowned psychologist Carl Jung said, “What you resist not only persists, but will grow in size.”  Or, to sum up, What you resist, persists.  This is rather pertinent to change.  When we resist changes, as in the form of obstruction, we will get more of what we don’t want.

The Universe is pretty consistent in using consciousness to create reality.  However, the Universe does not recognize don’t, do not, don’t want, or undo.  The Universe recognizes only item and desire.  So if you say I do not want this, the Universe only gets the message of want this.

Because many people fear change, we tend to resist in the obstructionist manner.  It takes very little thought to see this for what it is.

Change happens.

Positivity 199 - ChangeWhen we accept that change is going to happen, like it or not, we can choose how to work with it.  Stand against it, or with it?  Resist by trying to redirect, or resist by obstruction?  The choice is more in or hands than we generally recognize.

When we choose change, we get to choose to make it positive.  If things are not how we want them to be, we can choose to change them for the better.  I know sometimes it feels hopeless, but it really isn’t.  This can be an incredible source for positivity in this world.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that change happens whether we like it or not, we can choose to work with change to generate positivity.  When we strive to direct it instead of resist it with obstructions, we empower ourselves.  When we feel empowered, we frequently spread that feeling to others around us; as such, we can build more positive feelings in the collective consciousness.  We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings.  When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for.  Gratitude leads to happiness.  Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude.  Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.

How Do I Express All My Appreciation?

I am not sure I can fully express just how much appreciation I have for each and every one of you who follows my journey.

When I began The Ramblings of the Titanium Don, I had no real direction, and just randomly posted from time to time.  Almost six years ago I started Pathwalking, and with that developed some direction.  Now this entire blog has a purpose, and it is my hope that you’ll stick with me as I explore it.

AppreciationI have spent a great deal of my life trying to figure out who I am.  Identity has always been an interesting challenge for me.  As a small child, I remember spending a tremendous amount of my time alone.  I am not blaming anyone for this, and probably because I was alone I developed the imagination I possess.  With my imagination, I turned that to writing.  My first completed work of sci-fi, Wildfire, was 50 pages and illustrated when I was 9 years old.

When I was a teenager, and finally began to develop a group of friends, I shunted parts of my true self in order to be accepted.  I saw the interactions between everyone, and altered how I acted in order to belong.  Over the years I would lose myself in striving to find acceptance amongst people. As such, my identity got clouded and somewhat confused.

After the accident that caused me to be partially made of titanium, I received an outpouring of support from my friends and loved ones.  The appreciation I have for those who supported me at that time is immeasurable.  After that life-changing event, however, I truly began to explore my identity.  I started to seek out my genuine self in ways I’d never done before.

Self-appreciation is important.

I saw a lot of pieces of myself in this time that I was not so fond of.  There were things I did that were fairly douchey, selfish, and unfair to many people.  Check out The Journey of A Thousand Miles Begins With a Trip to the Post Office if you want to see just what I am talking about.  Over the next decade-and-a-half I began to seek my true-identity out, and to learn to be comfortable in my own skin.

There were many paths I took in order to get to know myself.  I went into therapy (certainly not for the first time) and made use of anti-depressants like Prozac.  There was Zen study, meditation and I did active journaling.  I worked to come to grips with both my good and bad qualities.  Rather than place blame, I worked to take responsibility for all the ways in which I was messed-up.  I have tremendous appreciation for the therapist I was seeing at the time, and the friendships I developed.

For a long time I have had no appreciation for myself.  Frankly, I have often been really critical of who I am.  I criticize my weight, my odd job history, my many failed relationships, my temper, my impatience, and all the rest of my faults.  Focus on my faults of course would depress me, and depression is a miserable feeling.

I began to see that it was of greater import to me to be happy.  Nearly everything I do with my life is part of an effort to find happiness and joy.  With that realization I began to put more effort into knowing my self-identity, and finding new ways to improve my self-appreciation.

Appreciation appreciates.

This is why gratitude is so key to conscious reality creation.  When I have stopped focusing on my faults and imperfections, and instead worked on appreciating my good qualities, my life improved immensely.  I developed the most stable relationships I’ve ever had, solidified friendships, held some good jobs, and have been writing more frequently.

One of the main issues I have had over the years has been insufficient gratitude for the things I have in my life.  I love the people in my life, whether my friends and/or family.  I want to share my appreciation for you all.  As I work on conscious reality creation, I am extremely grateful to have you along for this ride with me.

Crossing the bridges between my worlds lets me have the life I most want to have.  I want to lead a life of joy.  Yes, there are some pretty awful things happening in the world today, but I won’t allow them to overcome my thoughts and feelings.

Feeling grateful for all the people and things I have in my life will generate more positivity,.  This allows for more things to express appreciation for to be brought forth.  I have made this work before, and I know that I can make it work again.

It is important to not get hung up on the things I can’t do anything about.  I need to say thank you, focus on the good things I have, material or immaterial.  I need to seek out more good things.  Doing this will allow for conscious reality creation, and that is important to living the life I most desire to live.

My appreciation for you is a part of this.

How Is Pathwalking Mindful?

When we are mindful of our thoughts, feelings and actions, we can walk any path.

The key to doing this is to work on spending more time in the here-and-now.  When we are mindful of where we are, at this very moment, we empower ourselves to best walk the paths for the lives we desire.

Mindfulness is awareness.  When we are aware, we have control.  Pathwalking is about taking control of the life we lead, so being mindful is imperative to success along the path.  If we are aware of what we’re thinking, how we are feeling, and from that what actions we intentionally are taking, we can make more informed and desired choices.

Being in the here-and-now, which I have discussed before, can be a particular challenge.  Why?  Because our society has this maniacal obsession with the past and the future.

We are constantly looking back at what was.  I know I am using this example a lot, but it’s really hard not to these days: Look at current American politics.  There is this obsession with taking us “back” to a time and place that never actually existed.  Recreating a nation of “values” and “morals” that existed, at best, in 1950’s television and movies.

On the other side of that coin, we’re frequently discussing the future.  We are looking ahead to things that don’t exist yet, even though they could.  We want to build this utopian world that might be possible, but is nearly equally as non-existent as the world that some want us to go back to that never was.

Here and now is where we have balance.  But when we live in the here-and-now, we have to pay attention to the world around us.  That would require accountability.

Being accountable is being mindful.

Another problem in modern society is a major lack of accountability.  Everyone finds someone to blame for this, that or the other thing.  We blame our parents for our emotional issues as adults.  Hell, the President tells outright lies and is seldom called out on it.  We almost take pride in avoiding being responsible for our feelings, thoughts or actions.

The sad truth is that accountability is not tremendously important in this society. Why does that matter?  Because when we do not take responsibility for our own actions, let alone our thoughts and feelings, we haven’t the strength to consciously create reality, let alone anything else.

When we are aware of what we are thinking, it allows us to be mindful of what we are feeling.  When I am thinking, damn this society is screwed up, that leads to my feeling sad, depressed, and angry.  If I do not accept this, and don’t take accountability for it, I can’t change it.

When I do take responsibility for how I am thinking and feeling, I can take control of them.  Rather than focus on my negative thoughts, I can instead think, if I write about conscious reality creation, that can be shared to spread more positivity.  From there, I will start to feel good about what I am doing, and that in turn will put me back in control.

When we think and feel negative, then act from there, consciously or subconsciously, we tend to create other than what we want.  Further, if we are not accountable for that creation, creating something new and better becomes that much more challenging.  This is why we need to be mindful of thoughts and feeling.

The mindful path is where we are now.

Being in the here-and-now allows us to truly be mindful of everything.  When we aren’t looking back to the past or ahead to the future, right here, right now, we just ARE.  This is the ultimate awareness, and this is where our paths can be found, traversed, and changed.

This is the hardest lesson for me much of the time.  I get caught up in all these outside influences, and lose track of the here-and-now.  When I work to be in the now, I can do more with my thoughts and feelings, and with that take better actions.

How do I stay in the here-and-now?  I need to ask myself more frequently, What am I thinking?  What am I feeling?  How am I feeling?  Where is my mind?  What am I thinking about?  What am I focused on?  Any one of this questions will snap my attention to the now.

It is so stunningly easy to lose track of the now.  Start browsing through Facebook or Twitter and see how long it takes you to get lost in social commentaries.  Watch how easily you can become flustered by news of idiocy and amoral politics.  Before you know it, you’re angry, feeling depressed, and your subconscious mind is driving the bus.

During the day, as we go about our activities and routines, it’s really easy to let our subconscious take control.  Because we tend to be utterly unaware of things, in particular our own hearts and minds, this becomes more and more the norm.  But we can do something about that.  We can be mindful of what we are thinking, how we are feeling, and what actions we take from there.

Being mindful is not as hard as it first appears.

This is my challenge for putting Pathwalking into practice for the next week.  I am going to ask myself at least two of the above questions three times a day for a week, and WRITE IT DOWN.  Not only will this keep me mindful of what I am thinking and feeling, but the action will make me accountable for it.

The goal of this practice is to make myself more aware in the here-and-now.  I believe that doing this will let me be a far better Pathwalker, and allow me to truly consciously create the reality I want to see.  Care to join me in this endeavor?

Can Consciousness Create Reality?

Consciousness creates reality when we work to be aware of our thoughts, feelings and subsequent actions.

Positivity 196All too often, most of us get caught up in our day-to-day activities.  There are patterns and routines each of us follows.  Before you realize It, you may find yourself just going along with things, and finding that you are dissatisfied because you are seeing more things you don’t want than things you do want.

We are living in a fear-based society.  Everywhere you turn those we have placed in power use fear to control us.  When we are afraid we tend to cease to be reasonable, and before we know it we’re living half-a-life because the compounded fears overwhelm us.

I believe we are all energy at our core.  Energy vibrates at a specific frequency, and like attracts like.  When the collective consciousness leans in a certain direction, its attractive force grows.  Thousands of people feeling fear will attract more and more to join them.

Because we get busy and have many different needs, desires, and obligations, a lot of people tend to let their subconscious do most of the driving.  As such, the collective consciousness draws them in, and the fear and concern and negativity takes hold.

Remaining conscious of your awareness requires active consideration of thoughts, feelings and subsequent actions.  Sometimes it just appears easier to go with the flow.  Trouble is, when the collective consciousness is inundated with fear-mongering and negativity, we draw more of this to ourselves.  Before we know it, dissatisfaction leads to distress and depression and down and down we go.

The collective consciousness can be disempowering.

Consciousness Creates RealityAllowing the collective consciousness to pervade our thoughts and feelings takes away our own empowerment.  When we are disempowered, we open ourselves to being controlled by outside forces, and as such the collective consciousness continues to build on fear.

Awareness of our individual consciousness empowers us to manifest better.  The positivity of this is tremendous, and powerful, and could change the world.  When we make an effort to focus on the positive, and work on conscious creation of our desires, we become more capable of controlling our own lives, and breaking from the collective consciousness.

Consciousness creates reality.  I know I prefer to work on building a better, more positive world.  Wouldn’t you like that, too?

How Do You Feel Positive?

You woke up today.  That is tremendously positive.

You have air in your lungs.  Your heart is beating.  You have thoughts in your head.  These are all filled with positive energy.

Positivity 191You are reading these words on a computer, tablet or phone.  The positivity of that is impressive.

It is very easy to forget that the positive exists in the smallest, most trivial things in our lives.  Just being alive and living every day is immeasurably positive.

I know that it can be easy to lose sight of this.  Reading the news will make almost anyone feel negative.  I know many people who are struggling with money, health, weight, relationships, work, time management, and other matters that make it hard for them to feel good about life.  It often feels as if the negativity outweighs the positivity, and that there is far more bad than good in our world.

I know it may not feel like the truth, but you and I can control this.  We get to choose, every day, if we want to let the negativity overwhelm us, or if we want to find positives in this world.

Feeling Positive IS stronger than feeling negative.

That feels like a lie.  Except, in an abundant universe, it’s the truth.  We are just so used to being inundated with negatives that it can feel like positivity is at a premium, and hard to come by.

This is why recognizing the positive in the small things that make up our everyday lives is so useful.  We are here.  We have choices each and every day.  Sure, there are times we get frustrated, and we are made to feel as though this life is pointless.  Except, I want you to know, it is not.

You are valuable.  You are important, and You matter.  This is the truest thing for you to know and recognize about your life.

We are energy at our core.  The entire universe is made up of energy.  From the smallest nanoscopic particle to galaxies across the cosmos itself, all of it boils down to energy.  Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it just changes form.  Energy in its most raw form is neutral.  We get to choose if we want to generate the negative or the positive in our lives.

Feel positiveWe get to choose if we want to live in a positive world, or a negative one.  The decision to only recognize things that make us feel bad is really, truly up to each and every one of us.  It takes very little to find positivity…if you make the effort to do so.

We should not ignore that negative things happen.  There are things which we need to actively work to better and things we can do little to nothing about.  Sometimes we are going to feel negative about the world…but it is up to us whether we feel it, or choose to sink into it and let it overwhelm our senses.

I know that I prefer to feel good rather than bad.  I think it’s worth it to seek every possible way to make this so.  How do you want to feel?

What Do You Take-Away From This?

What you take-away from a less-than-desirable situation is important.  Seeing the good you learned from the bad is the key to this.

We all have bad experiences.  There are going to be things that happen that are infuriating, complicated, difficult and unpleasant.  Life cannot always be perfect.  Frankly, if it was, I think we’d all get really really bored of it.

When bad things happen – and they will – what you take away from them is important.  If you find yourself angry, resentful, distressed or feeling otherwise negative, that will impact you negatively.  However, if you can find good that has come of it, you can generate positivity instead.

What you take-away from any given situation is actually totally yours to control.  Since you are the only one inside of your own head, you get to choose how you feel after anything good or bad happens.

Certainly there are automatic and gut reactions to things.  You get angry, you get hurt, you feel annoyed by what happened.  In the moment, hard not to feel such.  But, after that, you choose how long you hold onto it.  You get to choose how far you take that feeling.

As such, if you are feeling negative about something initially, when you focus on that, you’ll get more.  Consciousness Creates Reality, so focus on what you don’t want, you will create more of it.  This will manifest further bad feelings, and complicate whatever it is you are trying to achieve.

A thing happened.  It produced a negative response and emotion in you.  The take-away is entirely yours to choose.  Acknowledge it, then let it fester and likely draw more negatives…or acknowledge it, and figure out what you can learn from it that’s a positive.

Initial reaction is not what you take-away, unless you choose that.

First, let’s make note of a couple things.  We all make mistakes.  Everybody screws up from time to time.  What’s perfect about everybody is that nobody is perfect.

The bad or annoying or unfortunate thing has happened.  Made me feel negative.  Yup, that’s how it is.  Now, what have I learned from it, and what can I take away from it?

Let’s explore a couple examples:

  • You have credit cards in collections because you rang up too much debt. What is your take-away?  Negative: I am a total screw-up, and a failure.  Positive: I now know I need to be more responsible with my money. 
  • Your relationship/marriage/partnership failed. What is your take-away?  Negative: I suck at relationships.  I never get it right, I am unworthy.  Positive: I learned what does not work in a partnership for me, and can work to avoid that in the future.  I am wiser and worthwhile.
  • You have a crisis, great or small, to deal with. What is your take-away?  Negative: Why do I always have to deal with this crap?  Why me?  Can I just live without an emergency?  Positive: I am the eye in the middle of the storm.  I can handle anything, and am stronger because I know what I am capable of.  I’ve learned something useful from this.

You get to choose just what it is you take-away from everything that happens to you.  That being the case, you get to decide if you want to hold onto and create more negativity, or let-go of the negative and create positivity.

Take-away what you want to manifest.

Conscious Reality Creation means that we strive not to be a victim of circumstance.  Things can and will happen outside of our control, but that does not mean we have no ability to react to them at all.

Emotions are entirely on you and me.  Nobody but you can feel what and how you feel, and as such nobody can make you feel a certain way or no.

Pathwalking is about choosing for ourselves.  I know that I prefer to have some modicum of control over the life I am living.  Every situation is going to present you with a chance to have a take-away, but what that will be is up to you.

This week, for whatever reason, has been rough for me.  Not sure why, but I have had a hard time focusing and achieving what I want to.  I was sleepy, and could not easily concentrate on writing and editing.  Some things got done, but not as much as I wanted.

That was Monday.  When Tuesday rolled around, and I felt much the same, I began to get upset.  I was angry at myself for being lazy.  This in turned led to self-annoyance with my inability to achieve what I had intended to do, and I was getting down on myself for ever perceived misstep.

Last night I reconsidered what my take-away was.  Rather than berate and ultimately self-sabotage myself, I now know I can work on means to improve my focus, and to accept that we all have off days.  I can choose to stop seeing what is not working in my life, and focus instead on what is.

Conscious reality creation goes deep into one’s core.

To manifest what you want from life, it can’t just be a side thought, it has to be your only thought on the matter.  When I was recovering from injuries all I focused on was total healing.  All conscious reality creation works from complete, hyper-focus.

Today I am feeling the best I have in a while.  Staying mindful of the take-away from my situation is doing wonders for my psyche.

How does Finding Good in Bad Things Make Life Better?

Even when things look really bleak, we can still find good in them.

We are living in interesting times, in many ways like the Chinese curse.  There are a lot of people who seem hell-bent on messing with social order, let alone taking away good things for people in the name of politics and money.

Yes, this is mostly a pretty terrible thing.  And yet, there has been good to have come of it.  People are taking more notice, taking more action, and striving to have their voices heard.  We are seeing effort participating in the dialogue, and maybe from there we will see positive change of it.

Here’s the thing to keep in mind.  If we focus on the bad, and we focus on anger, and the things that are negative out there, we will draw more of them to us.  That’s the way conscious reality creation works.  What you focus on, think about, feel about, and act on – you bring out more of.

It’s far too easy to get caught up in this madness.  What terrible thing did the President say or Tweet today?  How much further will Congress erode our democracy?  What is North Korea up to?  If we give this our attention, we energize it, and that will only amplify it, and draw more of it to us.

I know I don’t want that.  I can’t imagine anyone who does.

While it’s hard enough to not let national and international matters steal our attention, what do we do when we have more personal negativity to contend with?  What can we do to find good things in problems we are encountering on a more direct level?

Is there good to be found?

There is always something good to be found in bad things.  Flat tire on the way home from work?  Maybe that kept you from being part of a far worse accident.  Lost your job?  Perhaps it was not a great job for you, and now you can get something better.  Family member dying from cancer?  When they pass, they will no longer be suffering.

Jen Sincero, in You Are A Badass (I CANNOT recommend this book enough), writes about the notion of exploring unexpected and unwanted situations by stating, “This is good because” and taking it from there.  Certainly there will be times this is more of a struggle than other times, but that does not lessen its power to change how you are thinking and feeling.

I am in no way advocating for denial of bad feelings.  We are only human, we are going to have experiences that make us feel bad, and that we would rather not endure.  Everybody gets broken up with, loses a job, fails a test, gets injured, loses family and friends due to anything from disagreements to death.  We are going to have miserable experiences.  Full stop.  However, when this happens – if we dwell on them, keep our focus on them and let them dictate further emotions, we are more likely to gain more bad feelings similar to them.

Another issue with modern society is our tendency to not bother with accountability.  We love to blame, we love to pass the buck, we love to make excuses rather than take responsibility.  You hurt me and you made me feel this way and you make me so angry are all-too-common statements.  Without a doubt, other people can be the catalyst for our feelings, but only we can feel them for ourselves.

Focus on that which you can control.

I cannot do anything about what our government is doing, except to write letters, make phone calls, and vote in elections.  I can spread awareness about injustices, but if I am wholly focused on that negativity, I will only get angrier, frustrated, and draw more ways to feel angry, frustrated and negative overall.

The challenge is to be active, do something productive and constructive, but keep focus on that which you can directly effect.  I can share my own thoughts, try to persuade you to my way of thinking, but I cannot control how you will feel.  Period, end of story.  You, and you alone, feel what you feel, and the same applies to me.

That being written, it’s important to tighten our focus, and take an approach to work with the things we do have control over.  Our individual corners of the universe may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but they are the only aspects of life we have total control over.

Pathwalking is about finding and traversing our own ways in life.  This is not the simplest idea, and there are challenges and obstacles and curves along the way.  Yet rather than letting life happen around us, we are choosing to take charge, and be aware of those things we can control.

We have no control over anyone else’s life choices.  This is why it’s important to be more aware of our own lives, our own existence, and to focus on working with what we have to make the best of the lives we are living.

This is Good Because…

…we get to choose.  This is Good Because we can find almost any path we desire, and take the journey of our life upon it.  Consciousness Creates Reality.  I want to manifest the most joyful, amazing, fulfilling life I can.  I am not a slave to anyone else, I am not beholden to anyone but me when it comes to my feelings.

Yes, it is important to be aware of what’s going on out there.  We need to be aware of this world to participate in it.  But there is a line between being aware and being overwhelmed, and it is so, so easy to cross that line.

Be the best you that you can be.  Walk the path that makes you feel the most good, the most happy, the most accomplished that you can.   When you experience unpleasant, unwanted and negative things in life, choose to process them and let them go; or hold onto them and let them dominate your life, and draw more similar negatives to you.

We are far more powerful than many would want us to be believe.  We are all creators, and we are all capable of manifesting incredible things.  Try to keep that in mind the next time you despair.

What do I want from my Reality?

What do I want?

I have been asking this question of myself for most of my adult life.  It is both the single most basic question I can ask, as well as massively loaded.  This is a question that can be rooted in the past, awareness in the present, or looking to the future, which complicates things further.

One of the more complex issues I encounter with this question has long been its opposite.  I was less sure of what I DID want, than of what I DIDN’T want.  While that can be useful, it can also be distracting.  In many ways it becomes the ultimate procrastination.

I spent my twenties indecisively.  I went from relationship to relationship and job to job, always seeking the greener grasses.  While getting hit by that car shifted my thinking in many ways, I proceeded to spend my thirties in nearly the same indecision.  Relationships came and went, jobs came and went, and I never made a decisive choice about anything.

Now, in my forties, I am deciding my life.  I have begun to work with consciously creating my reality.  This has required me to undo a lot of long-held beliefs that no longer serve me, which in turn slows the process, sometimes seemingly to a crawl.

I have decided.

I have been posting to this blog at least weekly for over five-and-a-half years.  Twice weekly for almost three-and-a-half years.  Thrice weekly for forty weeks now.  This was the result of me deciding to do something.  It was one of the first solid, unquestioned decisions I made after decades of indecisions.

Now, in my forties, I have come to realize the importance of decision.  Rather than hmm and haw and deliberate endlessly, I am working with deciding.  This is not always easy, as I have spent most of my adult life afraid that the wrong decision would make me unhappy, so more often than not I decided not to decide at all.

One of the pitfalls of this realization for me is a vague sense of regret.  How much of my time did I waste on my lack of decisions?  However, the other side of the same coin is recognizing all that I learned from my previous, indecisive ways.

Now that I know how powerful working with decision is, I am forgiving myself for my past missteps and non-steps, and working more in the here-and-now on being who I want to be.

Present reality is a product of the past.

This concept is very hard for me to wrap my head around.  Yet every single self-help and spiritual book I have read or listened to espouses this same idea.  The life I have, right now, is the result of decisions made and not made in my past.  Because consciousness creates reality, decision is a product of conscious choice.  When I decide, I am the one responsible for the reality I am creating.

Knowing this, and not being entirely satisfied with my current reality, I am working on making more conscious decisions to create better.  I can take better care of my body and mind; I can do work that makes me happy rather than saps my energy; I can focus on abundance to bring more good into my life, and the lives of those I care about.

I am completely aware of this.  I know how this works.  Knowing what I want and making decisions in the here-and-now will build the life I most desire.  Yet I still struggle with indecision, and not letting outside influences upset me.

World news can be distressing.  The American political landscape is thoroughly upsetting.  Friends are struggling with all kinds of different issues.  Awareness of these things is important, so long as I don’t let them interfere with my decision making process.  The only life I can directly influence and effect is my own.  The only reality I can consciously create is mine.

Knowing what I want is just a step across the bridge.

Change is scary.  The unknown can be unsettling.  Stepping out of my comfort zone has always been particularly challenging, but I have done it before successfully.  I went to college halfway across the country all on my own, and restarted my life.  After college I moved to New Jersey, again restarting my life.  I completely recovered from serious injuries without ever considering any alternative.  So what is holding me back now?

Me.  I am holding me back.  I know what I want, but not how to make it happen.  Yet everything I know about conscious reality creation, every book I have read or listened to tells me the same thing.  To move out of my comfort zone I have to get uncomfortable.  I need to decide to get clear of my limiting beliefs, to take the necessary steps and go for it.

The how is not my concern.  It is the decisions that need to be made.  I need to let go of the uncertainty, the fear, the doubt, the indecision.  The time to decide is now.  I am not my past, and unless I work in the present I will not attain my desired future.  Nothing is holding me back, except of course for me.

What do I want?

I want to be decisive.  I want to live in the now.  I want to consciously create the reality that will have me waking up every morning with a sense of excitement for the day ahead.  I want to straighten my back, square my shoulders, and take steps across the bridges, head held high and confident.  I know what I want.  As always, thank you for crossing the bridges with me.

 

GOAL LOG – Week 26:

Diet:  Overall I have been good on my food intake, though slightly less so when in Knoxville last weekend.

Exercise:  Fencing two days, one lap around the small lake three different days, four laps around the small lake one day, and a trip to the gym.  Exercised four solid days last week.

Writing:  The three blog posts were done.

Meditation:  Four of seven days last week, never less than 7 minutes.

Gratitude:  I expressed gratitude for 5 things on four days last week.

What Will be the Rewards and Consequences of my Decisions?

Conscious reality creation takes place in the now.

We cannot undo the past, and as Yoda says, “Always in motion is the future.”  The only part of reality we truly control is the present.

This week has marked several changes on my part.  All of them involved decisions.  One was in regards to changing this blog for its growth, one will close a long-standing issue I’ve spent more than half-a-decade trying to resolve.  In both instances I had to make a choice, to decide to take an action, each with consequences both real and perceived.

As I was writing Pathwalking this week, I had a moment where a lightbulb went off in my head.  Yes, I long ago recognized that I am the most successful at sabotaging myself, but this is not a matter of sabotage, but of perception.  That matter of perception is a large part of the why behind my not yet manifesting the reality I desire.

To reiterate that point, I constantly feel like I am on the cusp of creating what I want, on the verge of consciously creating my desired reality…and because I keep it just ahead of me, just about to happen, it never manages to actually happen.  So close…but not yet here.

Consciously creating reality requires being aware and present in the here-and-now.  When I am aware, I am able to think what I want, to feel what it will feel like, and take the necessary actions and make the decisions to do it.

Changes and decisions made.

I spent more money than I was comfortable spending shifting this blog from being hosted with the limitations of wordpress dot com to a new host and using the tools of wordpress dot org.  I spent even a bit more because I set-up the ability to move more of my domains to WordPress, so that I can make them better and more powerful, too.  The consequences of that choice were both tangible and intangible.  The former being the money spent is spent, the intangible being the concern of losing what I had already created.  I am pleased to note that, thus far, that does not appear to be the case here.

I took steps to resolve a long-standing matter both personal and financial.  An investment I am no longer benefitting from has been hanging over my head for some time.  The investment is not mine alone, it is shared with family.  We have had different priorities in regards to this, and it’s been the cause of some strife for several years.  The other party has taken action to resolve this, and while I requested specific remuneration, they disagreed.  I disagreed with their reasoning, but rather than draw this out even further, I chose to accept what was offered and move ahead.  The consequences of this choice were both tangible and intangible.  The former being getting less than I feel I should be, the intangible being lost respect between myself and the other party.  This is not yet complete, but I expect no further issues in finally getting resolution.

In both instances there were choices to make.  Though they are vastly different matters, they are the same in being steps forward versus remaining in the comfort zone I am existing in.  Both involved being in the now, and accepting the consequences, good or bad, of my actions.

Being present to manifest.

The point has been driven home this week multiple times how important it is for me to be in the present.  I can only work in the here-and-now to consciously create my reality, and that will only be accomplished when I take my choices and make decisions for action.

I need to stop viewing the manifestation of the reality I desire as being just slightly ahead of me, on the cusp of actually BEING.  I need to see it NOW, here and present and happening.  Last week I discussed the power of I AM in crossing the bridges, but this is exactly that.  By thinking, feeling and saying, “I am on the cusp of making this happen!” I am leaving the reality I want to live in just ahead of myself.  There it us, just out of my grasp, almost, nearly visible through the haze.  So.  Close.

I need to decide that “I am manifesting my reality.”  In the present, in the here-and-now, I am creating the reality I want and manifesting the life I believe I am capable of having.  This is a decision no different from the others I have made this week, albeit composed of more intangibles.

I need to choose to think in the here and now, “I am consciously creating my reality.  I am doing it.  It is manifesting all around me, right here, right now.”  The consequences of this choice are both tangible and intangible.  The former is getting to do what I really want to be doing with my life and truly practicing what I write about.  The latter is the concern that the people I care about will think I am off my rocker, that they will abandon me and I will fail.

I think this is a decision I will ultimately be happy with.  I know that, here and now, I am.  As always, thank you for crossing the bridges with me!
