What Changes Do You Want to Make?

Choosing what changes we make for our lives is a key goal of Pathwalking.

The entire cosmos is in a constant state of change.  I think probably one of the only constants in the universe is that everything changes, constantly.

Human nature seeks stability.  We like to know who we are, where we are, and what we are.  As such, there is resistance to change, which can even get pretty violent at times.  Yet no matter how much we want things to just BE a certain way…they will change.

Why is this true?  Because if everything stayed the same, we’d never grow.  Mankind wouldn’t even exist if the ecosystem of Earth hadn’t changed along the way.  There are numerous points of human history that it is best we left behind as we grew and learned along the way.

Recognizing this truth for what it is would probably make the entire world a far better place.  I know I keep bringing this up, but the current positions of a huge number of American political leaders are entirely founded on undoing already-completed change.  They refuse to accept that you can’t go back, in especial to a time and place that only existed in certain-people’s minds.

Other examples include the whole Brexit debacle in Britain, Islamic State extremists across the globe, and climate-change and science deniers.  They see certain changes as scary, economically unsound, or in opposition to their desires, and resist with obstructionism.  Change is stull occurring, and we all get to choose to obstruct or work with it.

In Pathwalking, we look to make choices for the life we want to lead, and as such choose changes to be made.  It’s important to acknowledge that we can change who we are, what we are, and everything else about our individual lives.

 Choosing changes for ourselves is empowering.

I need to do a better job of recognizing that there are many things happening in the world today I can do little or nothing about.  When I get upset about awful things I see happening, my focus goes to negativity, and I disempower myself.  Pathwalking is conscious reality creation, and choosing for myself the life I most want to manifest.

If you are a decent human being, it’s pretty hard to ignore what’s happening to the world at large.  I would not suggest we should ignore it, but we should alter our focus.  Write letters, make phone calls, march in protests, but then work on your own life.  Do the things that will empower you.  Find happiness, joy, and manifest positivity for yourself.

This is NOT a selfish act.  In this fear-based society filled with anxiety, surreal greed and other negatives, it can be challenging to see the difference between selfish and self-care.  When we neglect to care for ourselves, we have far less to give than we realize.  This contributes to stress, dis-ease, illness, and general unhappiness.

I have things in my life I am striving to change.  Rather than just let them happen, I want to choose for myself.  When I work on changes for myself, I am empowered.  When I am empowered, I can do more to empower other people in the world around me, directly or indirectly.

Nobody can change anybody else, unless they allow themselves to be changed.  You can’t help people who do not want to be helped.  But we can do for ourselves, strive to be the best people we can be.  Each of us can choose paths to empowerment, and do more good from those places.

Pathwalking directs changes to manifest better.

Consciousness creates reality.  Rather than just let the world turn around me, I want to have a direct impact on this.  My life is mine, and mine alone.  Yes, I choose to share it in many ways with many different people.  When faced with change, I want to choose for myself where that can and will take me.

I long ago saw three distinct ways to live life.  The first, and most pervasive, is to let life live you.  You go with the flow, things happen around you in their own time, and you do little to choose changes along the way.  The second is to curl up in a ball and wait for death.  This is sometimes literal, but more often than not involves waiting for others to do for you.  It’s about avoiding living in the here-and-now in any number of different ways.  It involves placing lots of blame and letting life totally pass you by.

The third way is where Pathwalking was born.  Grab life like the bull by the horns, and take it for a ride.  You strive to choose what you want for life, decide where to go and what to do.  Changes are made to empower conscious reality creation.  Effort is made to get the most out of life, see if for all its wonders and possibilities.  Live life, rather than let life live you.

There are times this is not easy.  But then, truly, nothing worth having is ever all that easy.  I want to manifest the most joyful, interesting life that I can.  I know that change happens, and even when I am content and want things to just be as they are, changes will occur.  By choosing my paths, I decide the forms this can take.

Make the changes you want for you.

As you are reading this, I am working from Boxhenge.  We are about to move, and this is going to be a pretty big change in my life.  I am moving two hours south, to somewhere rather new to me in many ways.  After over twenty years somewhere within an hour of NYC, now I will be less than an hour from Philadelphia.  Also, for the first time, I will have a full home-office space, and a fairly unfamiliar locale to explore and get to know.

This is both exciting and scary.  It’s a major change, but a welcome one.  We chose it for ourselves.  I can hardly wait to see what new paths will open before me, and what else I can manifest from here.

These are changes I want to make.  I believe they will help me to create the life I most want for myself.  I decided to choose them for myself, and am looking forward to where they will take me.

How Can Change Generate Positivity?

Change is inevitable, but can be a huge source of positivity.

Let’s face it.  Everything changes.  The world evolves, and whether you want to admit it or no, change is going to occur.

ChangeSeasons change.  The weather changes.  We humans have a unique ability to change our clothes, our homes, our lives, and our minds.  Changes just are.

Often we just let change occur.  The world is turning, things happen.  Sometimes we accept this.  Other times, we resist it.

It’s important to recognize positive resistance versus negative resistance.  There is a difference.  Marching to protest unjust policy, writing and calling members of Congress, petitioning and other forms of resistance are positive, and a focus for directing changes.

Holding onto the past, trying to force matters into an unnatural shape, standing against progress, or holding tightly to a disproven belief and similar forms of resistance are negative, and present obstacles to change.  Obstructing will seldom, if ever, get you where you want to go.

Renowned psychologist Carl Jung said, “What you resist not only persists, but will grow in size.”  Or, to sum up, What you resist, persists.  This is rather pertinent to change.  When we resist changes, as in the form of obstruction, we will get more of what we don’t want.

The Universe is pretty consistent in using consciousness to create reality.  However, the Universe does not recognize don’t, do not, don’t want, or undo.  The Universe recognizes only item and desire.  So if you say I do not want this, the Universe only gets the message of want this.

Because many people fear change, we tend to resist in the obstructionist manner.  It takes very little thought to see this for what it is.

Change happens.

Positivity 199 - ChangeWhen we accept that change is going to happen, like it or not, we can choose how to work with it.  Stand against it, or with it?  Resist by trying to redirect, or resist by obstruction?  The choice is more in or hands than we generally recognize.

When we choose change, we get to choose to make it positive.  If things are not how we want them to be, we can choose to change them for the better.  I know sometimes it feels hopeless, but it really isn’t.  This can be an incredible source for positivity in this world.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that change happens whether we like it or not, we can choose to work with change to generate positivity.  When we strive to direct it instead of resist it with obstructions, we empower ourselves.  When we feel empowered, we frequently spread that feeling to others around us; as such, we can build more positive feelings in the collective consciousness.  We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings.  When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for.  Gratitude leads to happiness.  Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude.  Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.

How Does Being Aware Take Me Across The Bridges?

For me, being aware of my mindset, mindful of what I am thinking and feeling, is the key to creating what I truly desire from this life.

Conscious reality creation is the ultimate gift humankind has.  The other animals on this planet, no matter how intelligent they may be, don’t have the same capacity to create as we do.  We are the only animals that can build tools to allow us to travel anywhere across the globe, infinitely expand our knowledge base, and live in any environment.

AwareTo create anything at all, I have to begin with thought.  I have to think of an idea, and bring it into existence.  This applies to characters and worlds for my writing; a job I envision working; relationships with friends and lovers; ideas to make life better.

Great or small, thoughts are the starting point of everything.  I have had some pretty cool thoughts and ideas, but if I did not go to the next steps, they never got past this first point.

This is where I usually face the greatest challenge.  Feeling.  To consciously create reality, you cannot just think of a thing, you have to feel it.  I have been struggling with feeling for most of my life.

Let me get really personal here.  I was a smart, sensitive kid.  Didn’t know it back then, but as an empath I was good at feeling the feelings of others.  Due to things that happened in my youth, mostly around my parents’ divorce (and for the record, I am NOT blaming my parents here) I went into therapy.  Because this was the early 1980’s, there were no drugs like Prozac and such.  It was a difficult time, and I was hurting.  Some thirty years later, I learned that I had shut down.

I was aware of feelings, but not feeling them.

Logically, I reasoned out what these emotions were supposed to feel like.  I shared that with my therapists, and they thought I was adjusting.  For the most part, I was.  But…my ability to truly feel emotions was less developed than anybody realized until much later.

In my thirties, I found the best therapist I have ever had.  Together, we realized what I had done, and started the process of repairing it.  With that work, I became more aware of my emotions.  For the first time in my life, I was truly mindful of both thoughts and feelings.

Important tangent here.  I know a lot of people who have had traumas both emotional and physical, greater and less than my experiences.  In this week’s Pathwalking I wrote about accountability.  Thing is, while I could blame any number of people and factors for the issues I had in regards to emotions, I recognize that ultimately I did this to myself.  Blame could not fix it.  So I made a choice to acknowledge and then repair the damage, rather than get angry or depressed about it.

Once I became aware of the issues I had regarding emotions, I did the work to learn how to truly feel them.  It was in this process that I began to truly understand the idea of conscious reality creation.  I saw how I had healed from my accident faster and more completely than expected, because my thoughts and feelings wholly supported, expected, and worked towards that outcome.

Still, this has been an ongoing struggle for me.  Because the emotions I have recognized and expressed the longest are negative ones, like depression, anger, jealousy, and other fears, when I am not mindful and fully aware, guess where my subconscious goes?

Being aware will take me across all the bridges.

Because I am an empath, I feel the emotions of other people around me.  Due to spending probably too much time on social media, I get inundated with a whole lot of negativity.  Our fear-based society is being pushed around in new and horrifying ways.  Those in power are hiding their selfish agendas less and less, yet still enjoying control over a huge swath of the collective consciousness.

I am working to better recognize when I allow my subconscious to drive the bus.  I set myself up in my Pathwalking post to regularly ask at least two questions about my mindset, so that I am better aware of what I am thinking and feeling.

When my thoughts and feelings are aligned, taking intentional actions to manifest what I am desiring is virtually effortless.  When I allow doubts, or the negativity of the collective consciousness to get between my thoughts and feelings, I am like an inverted bicycle.  You can pedal the wheel round and round as much as you like, but you are not going to get anywhere at all.

I challenged myself to ask at least two of these questions several times a day.  What am I thinking?  What am I feeling?  How am I feeling?  Where is my mind?  What am I thinking about?  What am I focused on?  I know that when I ask these questions, I become aware of the here-and-now, and allow my conscious self to take the wheel.

One additional challenge with this that I tend to get down on myself when I do not live up to my own standards.

I need to be more aware of how I think about myself.

For most of my life I have chewed my fingernails off.  Trust me, I know this is a terrible habit.  For a while, I mostly stopped.  There they were, fingernails, and I actually needed to clip them like a normal person from time to time.  Recently, I have found myself chewing them off again.  If I do not make a conscious effort to restrain myself, when I am bored or nervous or frustrated I find myself removing a fingernail with my teeth.

It does not matter how aware of this, or any other emotion I am.  What matters is what I do with that knowledge.  Do I stop from biting my nails?  Will I acknowledge the negative feeling, and do something to change it?  Am I going to get mad at myself for not doing this, that or the other thing, or will I make the necessary change?  Being aware is only the beginning.  What I do with that mindfulness is the difference between manifesting the life I want, or never quite going to the places I desire to be.

I am aware.

GOAL LOG – Week 45:

Diet:  I was very conscious of what I was consuming, but not so good about writing it down.

Exercise:  Fenced once, did a bunch of walking.  Need to up this game.

Writing:  Three blog posts, and some other writing work.

Meditation: I really need to resume this.  One day this week, about 8 minutes.

Gratitude:  I was not tracking gratitude again.

Why Create Reality?

I love to create.

I began to write fiction when I was nine.  Even with some breaks here and there along the way, I have continued to create characters, worlds, and stories to tell about them.

Why Create Reality?Then, about six years ago, I began to post to this blog weekly.  Pathwalking on Wednesdays was the starting point.  Two years later, I added Positivity every Monday.  Just over a year ago, these posts called Crossing the Bridges came into being.

All three of these posts cover different things.  Pathwalking is my personal philosophy for living the best life I can.  Through Pathwalking, I discuss striving to choose the life I desire most, and consciously create reality as I most want to see it manifest.

Positivity was in reaction to an abundance of negative posts to social media.  With everyone feeling down on a Monday morning, I wanted to post something upbeat to change the collective consciousness towards something better, and positive.

Crossing the Bridges came into being as sort of a self-check-in.  I view my life to some degree as existing on these separate islands.  One is the real world, trying to earn money in a desirable fashion to cover living expenses and more.  The next is the fantasy world I spend most of my weekends in, running around the Kingdom of the East and fencing, heralding, and hanging out with friends.  Then there is my creative worlds, the writing I want to spread further and sell more of.

An online course I took about six months ago changed how I view this blog overall.  Instead of three individual posts that are unrelated, now they are part of the greater package.  The Ramblings of the Titanium Don took on a new direction, a blog exploring aspects of working on consciously creating reality.

There is always more to create.

I am exploring new creations all the time.  Whether I am composing a blog post, writing my sci-fi novel, or even working on a resume or other business copy, I enjoy the creative process.  When I get to create, I am enormously alert, aware, and content with the life I have.

Even when I struggle with a topic for one of the three weekly posts, the process of getting to create something still keeps it worthwhile.  I am making something new, and sharing it with you.  The positivity, joy, and wonder in that is rather awesome.

All three posts this week have been focused on the main orientation of the blog.  Consciousness Creates Reality.  I believe this.

Consciousness can also be defined as awareness, recognition, or even realization.

Create stands on its own, but could also be interpreted to mean to build, discover, or even establish.

Reality is the trickiest.  Yet without going into a philosophical debate about it, reality can be defined as existence, actuality, or even tangibility.

Why do these redefinitions matter?  If consciousness creates reality, then that means awareness discovers tangibility; recognition establishes existence; realization builds actuality.  We can even rearrange them to fit in any way.  Awareness establishes actuality.

When we are conscious of the thoughts, feelings and actions we take, we can create, build or establish a tangible reality.  This is manifestation of dreams into reality.  It is from this we can have virtually anything we want.

If this is so simple, how come everyone isn’t doing it?  Because we live in fear-based, lack-mentality society.  We are frequently told there is not enough to go around.  Then the greedy hoarders constantly paraded before us add to the negativity, causing us to second-guess if we can have the things we want, and remain a good person.

It takes effort to create.

We are a society of easy.  It has to be fast.  Instant gratification is barely fast enough.  Consciously creating reality can be quick, but seldom instantaneous.  Taking thought, putting feeling behind it, then intentional action requires some processing.  Thus, in order to manifest reality, we have to expend some effort.

This can cause any number of frustrations for people.  When we don’t see the results quickly enough, we get frustrated, and our power to manifest weakens with our resolve.  To consciously create reality, we have to believe it, completely, and know without doubt that it is come to pass.

It is hard to believe that right now we have what we desire.  In especial when, in the current illusion of our reality, we don’t.  Conscious reality creation works best when we presuppose the desired outcome is in the now.  See it as ahead, not quite there yet, it tends to stay ahead and not quite there.  A further challenge to the process.

I have made this work.  When the outcome was the only reality that could be, I achieved the goal intended.  I healed, got the girl, got the car, etcetera.  If I can apply my love to create things to the reality I most desire, I will be capable of crossing any bridge I encounter.

Consciousness creates reality.  I know this to be true.  Anything I want to create is mine for the making.  It’s up to me to use this and manifest the life I most desire to live.

GOAL LOG – Week 44:

Diet:  I resumed mostly tracking my food intake this week, and was more conscious of it.

Exercise:  Fenced twice, did a bunch of walking.

Gratitude:  I was not tracking gratitude again.

What Is Reality?

Reality is how we perceive the world around us.  It both is and isn’t that simple, of course.

No less an authority than Albert Einstein said, “Reality is an illusion, albeit a persistent one.”  What that means is that what we perceive as our reality is different for everyone.

To me, this thoroughly supports the notion that consciousness creates reality.  Since the reality we perceive is completely individual, and a persistent illusion, isn’t it completely logical that we can create our own?

We can all agree that our perception of the world around us is what we name reality.  We can see it, smell it, feel it, touch it, hear it, even taste it.  Yet there is more to the world than just that which we can sense.  Everything is energy, and energy is constantly flowing all around us.  This is also, I would argue, real.

As children, we are less invested in accepting the reality we’re presented with.  How many kids have imaginary friends that are almost completely real to them?  The wonder that children view the world with, before we tell them the what of things, is impressive.  The world a child considers to be real encompasses numerous illusions that, as they get older and “educated”, fade away.

I am in no way saying education is bad.  Quite the contrary, the more we know, the more we gain.  The issue is not education, it’s losing a sense of wonder with the world around us.

So many people feel “trapped”, or “stuck” or otherwise held back from things they want by the reality they perceive.  They have lost sight of wonder and joy be becoming entrapped by a world they think is beyond their control.

Conscious reality creation transmutes the illusion.

I am always seeking new wonders in this world.  I love hiking in nature and coming across a beautiful, tree-lined path or rocky river offering me never-before-seen vistas.  It is from these experiences that I still believe in a wondrous world, full of endless possibility.

When we lose sight of that, and get caught up in the world as we currently perceive it, we are disempowered.  Once that happens, it’s difficult at best to move past, and regain a sense of curiosity and possibility for what could be.

Pathwalking is my ideal for creating a life I most want to live.  Rather than let the world as I currently perceive it be that which I live in, I want to consciously create a better reality.  It is my desire to change how I perceive my world, and manifest one more to my liking.

If this which I already perceive is but an illusion, then changing it is a matter of practice.  It’s up to me to change what I sense, and create something even better.

I know you might be thinking to yourself, what is it with this hooky-spooky mumbo-jumbo?  Einstein meant something totally different with that statement.  Sure, I’ll give you that is possible.  But then, consider this:

Just over a hundred years ago, the first commercial airline came into being. Horse drawn vehicles still outnumbered cars.  There were no satellites, cellular phones or fitness trackers.  That reality was long ago changed, arguably far more drastically than any prior hundred year period.  The illusion of our world shifted considerably into what we have today.

Anyone can change their world.  Anyone.  Some changes are going to be colossal, wide-ranging, and life-changing.  Most, though, will be individual, but could be equally life-changing.

Whose illusion of reality is it?

Relationships change our reality.  So do new places we live, jobs we work, and locations we visit.  How we each perceive these things is wholly unique.  The way I see the world differs from your way, or that of any other.

This is why we can choose our illusion.  You and I possess the ability to consciously create our reality.  When we empower ourselves, and recognize this for the truth, there’s a lot more that we can do than we currently believe there to be.

Unfortunately, one of the big challenges with this is our fear-based society.  Everywhere we turn we see lack, are told there is not enough, and that we need to be afraid of *insert racial group or religious entity or other nonconformists here*.  To add to this, whenever someone violates or otherwise does something that is not the “social norm”, we tend to scoff at it.  Rather than support the new, frequently we warn of dangers and pitfalls.

Everyone makes poor life choices.  This is part of the human experience.  Frequently, we believe that our choices are more limited than they actually are.  We get worn down by the lack and fear of our culture, and accept the illusion before us as truth.

The world has been changed before.  It will be changed again.  Change is inevitable.  We have the power within us to direct change, rather than be a pawn of it.  We do it all the time, but much of it we take for granted.

When you change your clothes, hair, job, or car, you alter the illusion of your reality.  It is a small alteration, but everything is built up from the small stuff.  If you find yourself dissatisfied with larger matters, you have the power to take control over it.

What Do I Choose?

What I choose is what is best for me.

Nobody but me can choose what I want for my life.  Why?  Because there is nobody else inside my head.

People question people’s life choices all the time.  I don’t know if it’s a schadenfreude thing, or a judgement thing, or something else.  We talk about it all the time, and we frequently discuss how we might have chosen differently, or comment about disagreeing with choices that have been made.

It’s important to recognize that nobody can choose for us.  Period, end of story.  I am the only one who can recognize what’s best for me, and I have to live with the choices I make, and don’t make.

Why do we frequently question other people’s choices?  I think sometimes it’s a matter of self-reflection.  Other times, it simply feels easier to look at what other people choose, and comment on it, rather than examine our own choices.

Many people are terrible at choosing and deciding about their lives.  I am certainly guilty of this myself.  Going back over my life, there were numerous times I decided not to decide, or didn’t make a choice because I feared the outcome.

What have I been afraid of?  Ultimately, I feared being abandoned, shunned, and rejected by almost everyone.  I feared success and failure equally, because I thought either would leave me forsaken by everyone.

I am still struggling with this.  While I strive to put on a confident exterior, inside I still fight the demons of my fears.  While I could put the blame on my combat with depression, that feels like a cop-out.  I have chosen to walk my own path, and though others might question this, I still believe in it.

Choose for you.

Deciding is something that can be scary.  Why?  Because when we analyze any given choice, it’s possible to see multiple angles and various outcomes.  To decide literally means in the Latin it originates from “to cut off.” A decision cuts off many, if not all alternatives, and directs you in one way.  In especial when there is more than one choice, knowing if you made the right decision becomes a concern.

Maybe that’s why we question the choices other people make.  Perhaps we’ve made a similar choice and got an unsavory outcome.  It’s possible that we had a similar choice, and in our own analysis of it saw no good coming of it.  Or maybe we had that choice, did not make it, and regret that.

Our society strives to undo that which we dislike.  Again, while I hate to get political, let’s look at Congress.  Rather than fix the Affordable Care Act in a reasonable way, they keep trying to undo it.  Instead of taking forward steps, they are going backwards.  Sadly, tons of progress made in the past decade is being undone all because of spite on the part of petty politics.

Anyhow, this is indicative of the state of our society.  We want to undo what we dislike, rather than do something different.  The Universe does not undo.

Consciousness Creates Reality.  I cannot stress this fact enough.  We might focus on undoing a thing, but the Universe doesn’t recognize this.  I don’t want x or we need to undo y the Universe translates as give me more of x and y.  Ever notice how when you focus on something you really do not want, you seem to get an abundance of it?  That is conscious reality creation.

Choose what you want to manifest.

You are the only one who can choose what is best for you.  Yes, it is almost habitual to comment on the choices other people make, but we can’t change anyone else’s choices.  The only person’s choices we effect are our own.

I know that there are people who do not understand what I want to do with my life.  Frankly, sometimes I get concerned about what I am choosing.  But I know that I am better off making choices and deciding on things for myself than just letting life live me.

I have never taken easy paths, but I have been so afraid of being rejected that I have frequently abandoned them.  Didn’t make use of my theatre degree, did not pursue a career in radio, never became a teacher.  After a long time, I have decided that I am a writer, and I will make my living doing that.

This is not an easy choice.  Working on my own requires me to be better at self-discipline, and making the optimum use of my time.  I would prefer not to return to the corporate world, because life is too short to spend most of my day somewhere sucking my soul dry.  Certainly if I can find the right environment in this respect, that is an option, however.

Because I alone can choose for me, it is up to me to take necessary actions to manifest the life I want.  I believe we live in an abundant universe.  As such, there is more than enough of everything I want to consciously create.  I am not taking anything from anyone else in doing this, and I am worthy.

Choose fearlessness.

FDR said “Only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”  When I allow my fear of failure, fear of success, and ultimate fear of rejection to overwhelm reason, it is imperative I keep this in mind.  Our fear response is necessary when it comes to the tangible.  That’s how we avoid getting eaten by lions and mauled by bulls.  But the intangible is immaterial, and is not a fear to concern ourselves with.

I am the only one who can choose what is right for me.  Only I can decide to allow intangible fears to get in the way of my choices.  It would do us all well to keep that in mind, the next time we question a choice either made by ourselves or made by another, for whatever reason.  We can all work together to be better than we are.

How does Conscious Reality Creation effect my life?

Our souls are forever, but our bodies are finite.  We only get one shot at life.

I read and listen to a lot of self-help books.  I have read and/or listened to works by Tony Robbins, Jen Sincero, Rhonda Byrne, Stephen Covey, Wallace Wattles, Napoleon Hill, Boni Lonnsburry and more.  The topics range from ideas for how to live life to the fullest, manifestation, controlling our emotions, choosing our own destinies, making money through ways we love, and so on.

LifeAll of them at their core get to the same point.  Consciousness Creates Reality.  Every single one of these authors is saying their own thing, in much the same way most of the world’s religions have the same message.  Be good to yourself, be good to others, stay positive with your thoughts AND feelings, and you can have the world as your oyster.

If we focus on a great deal of the world around us, this feels like total bullshit.  I mean, really, how can we consciously create reality and still live in a fear based society? How, with people spewing hate and greed and intolerance like open spigots, can this possibly work?

That is both the super-complicated yet almost unbelievably simple question.  I have been chasing this question for quite a while now, which is why this blog exists in the first place.

Consciousness Creates Reality

I know, from my own experiences, that consciousness DOES create our reality.  I have managed on more than one occasion to make this work.  When my thoughts were wholly focused on only one possible outcome, it worked.

I healed faster and more completely from serious injuries than the doctors could explain.  I acquired a car when mine was dying and my credit was horrific.  The girl I wanted got naked with me, even though others more attractive, thin and muscular than I failed.  There are always parking spaces for me.

Some of the manifestations I consciously have created are, in the grand scheme of things, rather unimportant.  Except, and this is one of the harder aspects of this to grab, the seemingly unimportant things are usually most important.

We love grandiose stories.  The romance where, through impossible odds, the lovers come together; rags to riches; happy endings.  On the other hand, we accept certain truths about how life is supposed to work.  You work five days a week at a job that might leave you unsatisfied because you have to earn money; there are things not talked about in polite society; there are limits and lack all over.

These authors I read and listen to all point out that, with strong focus and iron will, anything is possible.  While that can feel very hard to believe, I still recognize that it is true, and I have been working on doing better at taking my life where I want it to be.

This life is meant to be abundant.

For much of my life I have decided not to decide, chosen to stand at a crossroads but not pick a path, let fears stay my hand.  Yes, there have been shining moments of brilliance where I broke free of this and decided, and the results were incredible.  Now I am working on making this more of a habit.

We live in an abundant universe, with infinite possibility.  We can have pretty much anything we believe we can have.  But society insists that there are limits, and because we’ve been indoctrinated into that idea, escaping it can be challenging.

All of the authors I read and listen to reject the limited universe.  They embrace unlimited potential, possibility, and passion for life.

Yes, some of what their works contain is a bit hard to swallow.  Some of their approaches are uncomfortable, seem like total crap, and to many espouse hippy-crunchy new-agey gobbledegook.  I agree that a lot of what they say is common sense, or aimed at persuading us to enlist in helping them make more money from what they “preach”.

However, the key tenets and ideas, the notion of conscious reality creation, is at the heart of it.  If you brand it as The Law of Attraction or The Secret or whatever, it’s the same thing.  We are all a part of something bigger, and this is part of what it is.

Beware of false equivalencies.

Conscious Reality Creation and the idea that it can make you wealthy is different from the Prosperity Gospel we hear a lot about these days.  Prosperity Gospel relies on the will of God; Conscious Reality Creation relies on ME.  The former is often blindly followed to the exclusion of many, whereas the latter requires ultimate awareness and self-care.

Frequently, Prosperity Gospel has come to imply that only the wealthy, who have gotten rich through faith and atonement offered to God, are worthy of anything.  It is being used to disempower a huge swath of our society, and furthers one of the divides among us.  Conscious Reality Creation is about self-empowerment, for our own good, and through our empowerment we can empower others.  Prosperity Gospel seems much more concerned with monetary wealth than overall abundance.  These are very different ideas.

This life, spent in this meat-suit, is a singular experience.  Since we are energy at our core, we cannot be destroyed, just transmuted to another form.  While I am here I want to experience all that I can, and I want to live joyfully and find illumination every day.  I continue to work at this daily.  And yes, some days are harder than others, but I believe this is worthwhile.

GOAL LOG – Week 33:

Diet:  Mostly back on track.

Exercise:  Fencing two days, time at the gym and a couple days of long walks.

Writing:  The three blog posts were done; editing of Harbinger occurred; I did some work on my sci-fi novel over the course of four separate days.

Meditation:  Five of seven days last week, never less than 6 minutes.

Gratitude:  I expressed gratitude for 5 things on four days last week.

How does Finding Good in Bad Things Make Life Better?

Even when things look really bleak, we can still find good in them.

We are living in interesting times, in many ways like the Chinese curse.  There are a lot of people who seem hell-bent on messing with social order, let alone taking away good things for people in the name of politics and money.

Yes, this is mostly a pretty terrible thing.  And yet, there has been good to have come of it.  People are taking more notice, taking more action, and striving to have their voices heard.  We are seeing effort participating in the dialogue, and maybe from there we will see positive change of it.

Here’s the thing to keep in mind.  If we focus on the bad, and we focus on anger, and the things that are negative out there, we will draw more of them to us.  That’s the way conscious reality creation works.  What you focus on, think about, feel about, and act on – you bring out more of.

It’s far too easy to get caught up in this madness.  What terrible thing did the President say or Tweet today?  How much further will Congress erode our democracy?  What is North Korea up to?  If we give this our attention, we energize it, and that will only amplify it, and draw more of it to us.

I know I don’t want that.  I can’t imagine anyone who does.

While it’s hard enough to not let national and international matters steal our attention, what do we do when we have more personal negativity to contend with?  What can we do to find good things in problems we are encountering on a more direct level?

Is there good to be found?

There is always something good to be found in bad things.  Flat tire on the way home from work?  Maybe that kept you from being part of a far worse accident.  Lost your job?  Perhaps it was not a great job for you, and now you can get something better.  Family member dying from cancer?  When they pass, they will no longer be suffering.

Jen Sincero, in You Are A Badass (I CANNOT recommend this book enough), writes about the notion of exploring unexpected and unwanted situations by stating, “This is good because” and taking it from there.  Certainly there will be times this is more of a struggle than other times, but that does not lessen its power to change how you are thinking and feeling.

I am in no way advocating for denial of bad feelings.  We are only human, we are going to have experiences that make us feel bad, and that we would rather not endure.  Everybody gets broken up with, loses a job, fails a test, gets injured, loses family and friends due to anything from disagreements to death.  We are going to have miserable experiences.  Full stop.  However, when this happens – if we dwell on them, keep our focus on them and let them dictate further emotions, we are more likely to gain more bad feelings similar to them.

Another issue with modern society is our tendency to not bother with accountability.  We love to blame, we love to pass the buck, we love to make excuses rather than take responsibility.  You hurt me and you made me feel this way and you make me so angry are all-too-common statements.  Without a doubt, other people can be the catalyst for our feelings, but only we can feel them for ourselves.

Focus on that which you can control.

I cannot do anything about what our government is doing, except to write letters, make phone calls, and vote in elections.  I can spread awareness about injustices, but if I am wholly focused on that negativity, I will only get angrier, frustrated, and draw more ways to feel angry, frustrated and negative overall.

The challenge is to be active, do something productive and constructive, but keep focus on that which you can directly effect.  I can share my own thoughts, try to persuade you to my way of thinking, but I cannot control how you will feel.  Period, end of story.  You, and you alone, feel what you feel, and the same applies to me.

That being written, it’s important to tighten our focus, and take an approach to work with the things we do have control over.  Our individual corners of the universe may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but they are the only aspects of life we have total control over.

Pathwalking is about finding and traversing our own ways in life.  This is not the simplest idea, and there are challenges and obstacles and curves along the way.  Yet rather than letting life happen around us, we are choosing to take charge, and be aware of those things we can control.

We have no control over anyone else’s life choices.  This is why it’s important to be more aware of our own lives, our own existence, and to focus on working with what we have to make the best of the lives we are living.

This is Good Because…

…we get to choose.  This is Good Because we can find almost any path we desire, and take the journey of our life upon it.  Consciousness Creates Reality.  I want to manifest the most joyful, amazing, fulfilling life I can.  I am not a slave to anyone else, I am not beholden to anyone but me when it comes to my feelings.

Yes, it is important to be aware of what’s going on out there.  We need to be aware of this world to participate in it.  But there is a line between being aware and being overwhelmed, and it is so, so easy to cross that line.

Be the best you that you can be.  Walk the path that makes you feel the most good, the most happy, the most accomplished that you can.   When you experience unpleasant, unwanted and negative things in life, choose to process them and let them go; or hold onto them and let them dominate your life, and draw more similar negatives to you.

We are far more powerful than many would want us to be believe.  We are all creators, and we are all capable of manifesting incredible things.  Try to keep that in mind the next time you despair.

What Did You Learn Today?

You learn something new every day.

This is not just some cliché phrase, it’s literally true.  Some things we learn are huge and life changing, but most are minute and easy to overlook.

One of the greatest joys of life is that there is always something new to be learned.  Because there is always something new to learn, virtually no situation is impossible or irreparable.  We simply may be lacking in the necessary knowledge.

Learning is often tied in with change.  As we learn new things, we change our opinions, we change our technologies, our lives shift.  It is as inevitable as change itself, so it’s no surprise learning and change are linked.

One of the oddest things about people is our paradoxical resistance to change and desire to change.  We get comfortable with the world as it is, and dislike change.  Yet, at exactly the same time, we want to be happier, healthier, more centered, and that is a product of change.

Controlled change versus uncontrolled change.

While this is not a black and white, either/or concept, change generally happens in these two forms.  Controlled change, when we make choices like new jobs, new diets, new relationships and such.  Uncontrolled change is not in our hands, involves things like natural disasters, being dumped by a lover, getting fired from our jobs, breaking bones and being unable to exercise, and so forth.

Most people seek changes in their lives.  Some huge, some small, some subtle and some drastic.  In order to make changes, we usually have to learn something.  Examples of this include new dietary techniques, new job skills, new exercise routines, etc.

I suspect that because change can be so scary, and change is tied to learning, that this is where the current anti-intellectualism streak we’re seeing comes from.  All these new ideas we have available to us signify change, and people fearing change resist.  This partially explains science deniers, because science is all about learning and learning leads to change.

This is where choice is important.  When we choose to change, we increase our knowledge and learn more.  When we resist it, we still learn something, but it might not be the lesson we think it is.

Knowing can be a dangerous thing.

Knowledge is power.  The more we know, the more tools we have available to us.  One of my first self-help/spiritual reads was Shunryu Suzuki’s Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind.  While it’s an excellent introduction to Zen practices, it also makes some interesting statements about learning and knowledge.  For example, “We should not hoard knowledge; we should be free from our knowledge.”  This might be open to interpretation, but I view it this way: what we know is not set in stone, we should always be open to knowing more.

We live in a society where people mistake demagogues for the wise.  The “knowledge” they impart has no basis in fact, but they claim to “know” things.  While I do not like to get political in this blog, the perfect example is climate change.  Science has shown us that mankind is effecting climate change in an unnatural way, but many of our leaders prefer to ignore science for their own “beliefs” on the topic.  They “know” better.

While I know a lot of things, most, if not all, are open to reexamination.  Because there are new things to learn, what I know today is probably going to be different from what I will know tomorrow.

Recognizing that knowing is ever-changing is a part of learning.  When we recognize this, we can choose to learn things in order to take control of change.

Wisdom is learning, not knowing.

The use of the words “I know” frequently close us off from change.  In especial when we take them as truth from outside influences without giving them a thorough examination.  The primary notion of Suzuki’s Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind is that the “beginner” is always learning.  We gain experience, we gain knowledge, but so long as we keep our minds open like the beginner, we continue to learn and grow.  The wisdom of Zen practice is knowing that there is plenty you don’t know.

Stating “I know” with absolute certainty when it comes to self-actualization can be empowering, however.  Statements of this nature include I know I am amazing and I know I am the conscious creator of my reality and I know I am worthwhile and I know I am loving and lovable and such.  This is not conceit, its self-awareness.   Saying “I know” in this context is a matter of defining the self in positive, generative terms.

It has been long argued that human beings use only a fraction of our mental capabilities.  True or not, we can still conceive of and create amazing, incredible things that we have not created before.  Ergo, new learnings.  Only a hundred years ago global communications, computer technology, transatlantic flight and other modern conveniences were almost unimaginable.  But here we are, a century later, and look what all we have learned?  Science fiction postulates faster-than-light interstellar travel and other fantastical notions; but who’s to say we won’t learn these things in time?

Learning is joy.

I love to learn new things.  I also love to share the things I have learned with others.  This is why I write these posts, this is why I teach fencing, this is why I read self-help and spiritual books.  I love to learn, and there is always something new to be discovered and revealed and shared.

The world is pretty big.  The solar system is bigger.  Larger still is the galaxy.  On the same scale, the Universe is nearly infinite.  Great or small, there is always something new to learn, always experiences to be had.  Pathwalking is choosing to learn, to grow, to effect change for ourselves.

Every single day I learn something new.  This is what excites me most about life.  Everything new I learn opens up possibilities.  Consciousness creates reality, so there is always learning to be had.

Where do you find your Path?

Where do you find your path?

This can be a daunting question.  Finding the path you want to walk is a matter of necessity.

No two paths are the same.  Similar in some respects, but not the same.  For example, it is my personal goal to become a bestselling author.  While there are lots of bestselling authors out there, each of us will traverse different paths to that goal.

Knowing my path, where did I find it?  The simple answer is that I have found it in joy.  When I get the most lost in what I am doing, and I am happiest, that is where I found my path.

There are several universal means to finding the where of your own paths.  As such, where you find your path, different though it may be, originates from the same point.

Where do you feel most joyful?

This is the first question.  What do you do that brings you the most joy?  What makes you feel the happiest?  It is there you can find your path.

For me, there are two particular things that bring me absolutely tremendous joy.  Fencing and writing.  Whenever I get the chance to attend a fencing practice or weekend event, I fight with all the energy I can muster.  I absolutely love the game, love the feeling of swords in my hands, the difference in choice of weapons.  Learning a new move, or employing something unusual is exciting.  The joy I feel from the game moves me.

Writing is how I best express myself.  I can wrestle words into submission in any form I choose.  I love writing sci-fi and fantasy, but I also absolutely love writing my blog.  Sharing my thoughts on Positivity and Pathwalking and Crossing the Bridges makes me unbelievably happy.  It feels good to reach out to and support other people striving to live their fullest lives.

Even writing brochures and advertisements and web content is still fun for me.  Where mathematical equations frustrate me, creating with words to me is almost as easy as breathing.

Thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Everything begins in thought.  Every invention, every manmade notion began in thought.  You wouldn’t even have a path to consider traveling without a thought.  So the thought is the beginning.

To turn the thought into a thing, you have to feel it.  Feeling what it would be like to have your thought made manifest is important.  You need to power your thought with emotion, or you won’t create much of anything.  Feeling drives the thought into being.

From the thought, to the feeling, you move to intentional action.  Taking a step based on the feeling from the thought is where you begin your Pathwalking.  So you find your path in the thought, the feeling points you in the right direction, and the intentional actions you take move you along it.

We choose to walk our own paths because we want to control our own destinies.  There will always be new paths to walk, because life, the Universe, and everything changes.  While this can be somewhat daunting, it’s also pretty exciting.

Where do you lose track of time?

I have a friend I have been fencing with for quite some time now.  He and I will frequently fight at practice for a ludicrous amount of time.  Multiple passes, each of us attacking and defending, and on more than one occasion we’ve only stopped because we realized we had been at it for some time.  We’ve been known to go anywhere from thirty to forty-five minutes.  When each bout on average lasts less than a minute, this equates to a whole lot of fighting.

It is the joy of the game that makes us lose track of time.  Our bodies get tired, we perspire a whole lot, but we are having so much fun that we just don’t notice the time pass.  It is that feeling that will tell you where your path can be found.

Writing works the same for me.  Often, when I get going on a story or editing, I will completely lose track of time.  I won’t stop for anything because I am excited to get the idea out of my head and onto the page.  The words flow through me, and I have to put them out there.

Sometimes I will go back and read something I wrote, and I was so caught up in the moment that it’s almost unfamiliar.  Losing yourself to joy is a sure sign you’ve found your path.

Beware of outside influences “accepting” you.

I don’t know about you, but I have been told more than once that work is not supposed to be fun.  Work is something you do because you need to earn money.  You take the best paying job with the most benefits you can get, and you do it because that’s what society expects of you.  Do your job, earn your pay, take your joy in the little things but suck-it-up, because that’s how it works.

I have a very hard time accepting this notion.  Why?  Most adults in our society spend from six to twelve hours, a third to half of their time awake, every day, at work.   If your job bores you, leaves you dissatisfied, or worse stresses you out completely, is it worth it?  Is money and benefits but spending most of the day somewhere you are not joyful worthwhile?

We are only in this life for a limited time.  To spend the majority of that time unhappy is utterly illogical.  Yet we readily accept the notion that to participate in our society, we have to suck-it-up and do the job.  Take that commute, work for and with people you’d rather not spend time with, earn the money.  That is how we gain acceptance from society at large.

Find your path, find your joy, live huge.

This is why I have chosen to Pathwalk.  I don’t want to spend the precious time I am on this planet, in this body, unhappy.  Living the fullest life I possibly can is what I desire, and I want to manifest awesome things and contribute what I can to the world at large.  I want to live in joy, and I want to choose for myself what that means.

Consciousness creates reality, and I want to create the best reality I can.
