Why Be Mindful?

For more info, see my disclosures.   Why is being mindful all the rage in the self-help world?  I can tell you that there is more than one answer, and they are likely all right, and all wrong at the same time. The concept of mindfulness and being mindful takes in a lot of different approaches.  Meditation, psychiatry, self-help and philosophy all apply the idea in order to better ourselves and enrich our lives.

What is Mind?

I have been working on better quieting my mind. Yes, I know that as human beings, we are ALWAYS thinking, always processing stuff.  I also know that we are capable of finding stillness and peace, and turning the brain “off” for periods of time.  This is something I am currently working on doing more. Why?  Because it’s not, at least for me, about stopping thinking.  It’s about getting the inner dialogue – specifically the uncomplimentary aspects – to be silent.

How is Attachment Persistent?

Attachment is surprisingly persistent.
