How Do I Give My Intention Attention?

Do I have enough intention and desire to go where I truly want to go?

That’s the question I am trying to answer currently.  As I am walking my chosen path, I have to examine if I have sufficient conviction.

Why is that important?  Because if I do not put enough thought, feeling and intentional action into this, I will remain stationary.  I have to give this more than just lip-service in order to achieve my goals.

It is my belief that I can manifest what I want from my life.  I have done it before, as I have stated in many previous posts.  The main issue is focus.  If I do not focus my attention on my intention, I will move at a snail’s pace, if at all.

I have gotten really good at seeing the path I want to take, envisioning the conclusion, and then beginning my trek.  Except then, as I start along my journey, I get distracted, or I spread out my focus, or I don’t give enough time and effort as I should into making the desired thing happen.

A perfect example – my business idea.  Several years ago I started Off the Compass Solutions, which I set-up as small-business consulting.  I leveraged my IT knowledge, writing skills and general office capabilities as a business.

Rather than focus on one specialty, I multitasked across several fields.  Because my attention was divided, my intention was unclear…and my business barely twitched and went nowhere.

Give your intention attention.

One of the biggest obstacles to Pathwalking I have encountered along the way is my own indecision.  I have often been wishy-washy about my desires, I have split up my focus, and I haven’t always given my 100% attention to…well…anything.

I pride myself professionally on my ability to multitask.  Hell, on more than one occasion it has been the necessity to switch roles at a given job that has kept that job interesting for me.  I sometimes have a short attention span, which is not helpful to conscious reality creation.

In addition to my sometimes insufficient attention span, my fear of failure and equal fear of success often prove able saboteurs.  So many times I have decided to not decide, or made a very soft and ineffectual decision.  This has been one of the greatest challenges I’ve encountered.

I recognize my issue here.  I see that I need to give my intention more attention.  The challenge before me is how to do that.

Logically, I understand what I need to do.  I look at how I have manifested my desires before.  The trouble I encounter, though, is maintaining my focus.  Shutting out the distractions and the doubts and making this thing happen.

Thought is intention.

I have several ideas for the path I most want to walk.  This has usually been my experience.  Choosing only one at a time has frequently been a challenge.  What if I choose wrong?  Then, what if I put all my energy into this one thing, and I fail?  What if I give this my all and I succeed?  Then, what if I screw it all up somehow?

Because of that reaction, I split my attention.  I have a back-up plan, I have an alternative path to choose when and if this one becomes unnavigable.  I have another idea I can try, and I am always considering the alternatives.

Talk about divided attention.  Is it any wonder I struggle with this like I do?  Because my intention is fragmented, I find myself facing the same issues over and over.

What am I ultimately afraid of?  Disappointment.  If I fail/if I succeed, I might disappoint people, myself included.  Abandonment.  If I fail/if I succeed, I might be abandoned by those who love me.  Ultimately, it’s a fear of the unknown and not being entirely willing to accept it and still act.

I want to walk my own path in life because I don’t just want to exist, I want to experience life.  I want to learn new things, have interesting experiences, and ultimately be happy.  Further, I want to share that with others, which is part of why I write about my work on conscious reality creation.  I don’t want to continue to work meaningless jobs, wasting most of my day…I want to be, have, and do more than that.

Intention requires action.

When I was healing from my injuries, I gave my entire attention to the process.  There was never an alternative.  I would heal, completely, no question.  Every step of the way, through therapy and recovery, the only outcome I saw was complete healing.  My intention got my whole attention, and it worked.  If I don’t show you my scars or tell you about it, you would never know the extent of the damage to my body.

I intend to earn my living as a writer.  I want to write these blogs, my novels, and perhaps television and movies.  It would be completely acceptable to work on freelance copywriting, copyediting, web content and SEO writing.    I am a writer, and I intend to put my energy into writing.

The biggest obstacle to this path is my attention.  I need to stop distracting myself with thoughts of inadequacy.  My fears need to be acknowledged, but not allowed to rule me and my actions.  I need to hyper-focus on seeing myself as a successful writer, no matter what genre I work in.  It’s important that I see this as the only possible outcome.

No contingencies, no back-up plans.  I can have other paths in mind, but I cannot walk more than one path at a time…nobody can.  I need to focus my attention on this intention.  From there, I believe I can consciously create reality, and manifest the life I most desire.

How is Pathwalking a Challenge?

I have a lot on my mind right now, and choosing a topic has been an interesting challenge.

I have been presented with the opportunity to well and truly walk my path.  This has put me in a position where I can work on setting the schedule I desire, make the use of my time I most want to.  Further, this has afforded me a chance to work on building the destiny I most want from my life.

While I am working on this, however, I am still aware of the world around me.  It is difficult sometimes to work on my own desires when I see what is happening out there.

While we can control our emotional state more readily than we usually acknowledge, it is still a challenge to do so.  There are competing feelings along the way, some of which serve and some definitely do not.

The issue here is reconciling who I am, versus who I was, versus who I want to be.  A great deal of this can be quantified with a more keen awareness of here-and-now.  Yet that presents its own challenges.

How do I create the life I most desire without neglecting responsibilities, and while working to have a positive impact on the world around me?  How do I change my mindset so that the bad feelings don’t overcome the good?

Challenges both personal and impersonal.

I have been effected by what is going on in the United States these past several months.  A Congress which cares only for their special interests; a greedy, narcissistic, clearly unstable man-child holding the Presidency.  Additionally, there are resurgent hate-groups rallying in public, threatening myself and my loved ones out of fear and anger.   I am striving to not let this inundate me, but I cannot ignore it either.

Finding a happy-medium and striking a balance between needing to know what is going on and being overwhelmed with information about it all is challenging.  Then, just to make it that much harder, living in a fear-based society where our media has to be scrutinized for bias and partisanship can be truly distressing.

Amidst all of that, I am working on creating the reality I most desire for myself.  What I want to do is non-conventional.  Thus it comes with a degree of guilt and even shame because I know so many people who believe this is not how it works.

How do I reconcile these seemingly opposed matters?  That’s the question before me today, so please bear with me as I walk through it.

Challenge Accepted.

First and foremost, I think I need to consume less media.  I want to be aware of what is going on out there, but I need to not drown myself in it.  There is just so much information.  Then there’s a metric ton of anger, fear, hate, loathing, deep concern, and all sorts of additional negative feelings attached to it.  I’m already avoiding watching any news networks.  I think I need to spend less time in my Twitter feed and online overall.

However, I still need and want to support those resisting this.  I am pro-equality, in every single form that takes.  A supporter of equal rights, pay, and equal treatment under the law, I need to continue to do all I can to show that support.

One critical aspect of this, however, boils down to my mental and emotional health.  By walking my own path and creating the life I most desire, I am setting myself up to be more effective to those causes.

Mental health is an inside job.

In addition to our society being fear-based, we also are terrific at passing the buck, placing blame, and taking little to no accountability for anything.  The message we are constantly presented with is that someone else is wrong, it is another’s fault, and so-and-so is blameless in ‘x’ matter.

This winds up getting applied to feelings as well.  You made me feel angry; that made me feel bad; they hurt me; you made me feel unimportant and the like get tossed about too easily.  Certainly other people and events can cause us to feel a certain way, but we are the only ones who can feel it.

We get to choose, when something makes us feel bad, how long to hold onto that.  Do you want to wallow in it, or acknowledge it, react to it, then let it go?  This is entirely within our individual power to affect.

As such, creating the life I most want to live will grow my positive feelings.  I have spent a lot of time working at jobs where I was not capable of living up to my full potential for any number of reasons.  I have spent a long time in that position because of a combination of choices, not choosing, and feelings of inadequacy or disillusionment or fear of success and failure.

Now I have reached the point in my life where I believe that I CAN have what I want, that I am able to do this thing which will ultimately make me happy, and financially secure, and stable.

Belief is the challenge.

Because I am facing conflicting emotions as I am beginning to walk my desired path, I am encountering difficulties in maintaining it.  I set a schedule for my “perfect” weekday, setting aside time to work, to read, to exercise, to make this happen.  Yet because I have some guilt about this, because it is unconventional, there is a slight undercurrent of doubt I am contending with.  This is making it harder to manifest what I want, and to take this to the next level where I can make a living doing this.

What I am currently reading speaks a lot to interrupting patterns and changing the language applied to my thoughts.  The greatest challenge I have right now is believing that I am capable of changing the message, creating the focus I need to feel the life I want to have into existence.  I cannot ignore the feelings of doubt, but I can choose if I will let them dictate my actions, or if I can change them to something more productive.

How Do We Resist Hate and Fear?

Hate is never the answer.

We are all different.  You and I are not the same.  Even though we might have some similarities, we are still different.  We are individuals.  That means that each and every one of us is unique.

Yet, at the same time, we are all one.  Every single one of us, at our core, is just a being of light and energy.

We live in a fear-based society.  Recognizing this, we have to work extra hard to not be overwhelmed by fear.  Yoda put it rather well when he said, “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.”

The neo-Nazis, the so-called “alt-right”, the white supremacists, the KKK and all those groups are equal parts fear and hate.  They fear losing their identities, losing the power they believe they have, and they are afraid of change.  This leads to anger, which gets redirected as hatred for minorities, Jews and Muslims, women…take your pick.

I am in no way defending the actions of these people, but I do think we need to consider perspective.  To understand what others believe helps us find tools to combat their hate and fear.  We can be more capable when we stand up to them, and show them that their fear and hate do not empower them as they would believe.

Our society is suffering from deep fractures many do not recognize.  In the US, our government is a complete mess; many cannot tell the difference between propaganda and legitimate news and information; and the divide between the haves and the have-nots has grown almost exponentially.  Extremists have come to power, and they see only in black-and-white, ignoring the majority at the center and working to force viewpoints to their way of thinking.

Pathwalking can combat hate.

Pathwalking is about choosing our own destiny, our own fate in this life.  Rather than let life live me, I am striving to take control over that which I can.  My thoughts are my own, my goals belong to only me, and I want to live an extraordinary life of peace and joy.  I want to empower myself.

Yet despite the individuality of my purpose, I also want to empower others.  I share this philosophy because I believe that we can all benefit from greater self-awareness.  By becoming empowered, we can build amazing things.

Fear, anger and hate are not empowering.  One of the greatest mistakes these groups make is that they believe they empower themselves with their venom.  The exact opposite is true, however.  In disempowering the groups they are afraid of and hateful towards, they actually are disempowering themselves.  That is why they are standing on the other side of history, and despite a resurgence of soft political support, they are truly a minority.

The challenge is not fighting hate with hate.  It’s really really easy to dislike these people and their views and their actions.  They are hurtful, they are hateful, and not to put too fine a point on it, they come across as evil.  We can overcome their message, we are the actual majority here, but they are loud, they are backed by money, and they spew messages that bring us all low.

The right kind of resistance is not futile.

I am not advocating for going totally flower-child hippy on this.  We need to demonstrate, we need to march, we need to stand together to resist this evil.  Different is not bad.  When you get right down to it, everything at its core is energy.

It does not matter if you are black, white, male, female, transgendered, gay, straight, bi, Jew, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheiest, American, Russian, Korean, or whatever other labels you care to apply…at our core WE ARE ALL ONE.  We think differently, we have different goals, we have different wants and needs.  Yet even with all our differences, we are all one, all of us are light and energy at our core.

Reconciling our free-will and individuality of thought with our sameness of being is why we need to empower ourselves, and one another.  When we are aware of ourselves, we can do more for the world at large.  Mob mentality, and organized groups of haters lack awareness, or I don’t think they’d be so quick to spew their rancor.

Observe the reaction when individuals from the Charlottesville marchers were called-out.  When identified as part of the mob, they felt themselves empowered.  But as soon as they were named and individualized and shamed, many changed their tune, and attempted to lessen their role in hate-mongering.  Suddenly they were disempowered…though in truth they were always disempowered.

Hate can be overcome.

We need to take our own empowerment, and use it to overcome the disempowered masses.  One of the best ways to do this is to work on empowering them.  When we can show them that their lives are not being overtaken by that which they fear and hate, we can begin to help them see how disempowered they truly are by their so-called leaders, teachers, demagogues and the like.

Resist meeting hate with hate.  Love is not necessarily the opposite of hate.  Kindness, respect, sympathy, and aid are among the antonyms of hate, and can be used to combat it.  The more we are aware, the more we can help bring awareness to others.  With greater awareness, we can build a better world, and overcome the fear.

What is Well-Intentioned Resistance?

As you walk your chosen paths, you will meet well-intentioned resistance.

Well-intentioned resistance is when people give you news and information that is “for your own good” or to “tell it like it is” or to otherwise offer advice, in order to keep you from making “poor” choices.  This comes from those closest to you, and can be very disconcerting.

Society has certain norms and expectations of us.  We are supposed to go through the motions.  You work five days a week, at least eight hours a day.  Get a job that pays the most money you can make, and expect that it might be soul-sucking and lacking in fun.  Have a romantic partner, because you’re not supposed to be alone.  Get a college education. 

When you break from those expectations, those who are closest to you may not understand.  They think that because you are doing something different and possibly risky, you don’t recognize the dangers.  They may well believe in you, but they also are firmly rooted in that which is considered “normal”.  What you are doing is alien, unusual, and thus suspect.

Meeting well-intentioned resistance is deeply frustrating.

The challenge of finding and choosing your own path, and breaking away from the societal norm is difficult enough.  When your loved ones question your choices, and your actions, it adds a whole layer of difficulty you don’t need.  Working on being more aware of your own thoughts, feelings and actions, then employing consciousness to create a new reality is huge.  Breaking from the expected is scary enough, but having other people add their fears to your work isn’t helpful.

Pathwalking is about taking control of life, choosing your own adventures.  When you come to terms with the notion that consciousness creates reality, it feels almost crazy.  Can it really be THAT easy to break away from a life that leaves me flat and build one that excites me?  Of course the answer is both yes and no, because becoming AWARE of how and what you are thinking, feeling and acting upon takes a lot of adjustment.

Adding outside influences to this mix is inevitable.  Unless you are completely alone in the world, or cut-off from news and social-media and whatnot, you will encounter outside influences.  It can be tough to avoid general outside influences, but it’s really hard to avoid loved ones, be they family or friends.

Don’t let the other people’s fear become your fear.

Because nobody but you can know what is in your head, explaining the path you are walking may feel futile.  Try though you might to show in detail how you are striving to manifest a life you want, some people simply won’t get it.  This is especially true when those people love you, and you love them, and they only want what they think is best for you.

This is one of the key issues, of course.  What THEY think is best for YOU.  How do they know?  How can they know?  Answer – they don’t.  But in their own experiences, what you are doing might seem unusual, might seem overly optimistic, might even seem crazy.  Because they don’t want you to be hurt, they offer you their own point-of-view, which is resistance to the change you are working to make.

It is human nature to protect those we love.  Whether that means standing between your child and a hungry lion, or trying to dissuade that child from an idea you don’t understand and fear might maul them in the same manner, it is viewed as protective, and a part of love.  Of course that makes it all-the-more insidious.

How do you accept that love without letting it affect you?

While our loved ones are throwing a wet blanket over our path in an attempt to stop us from being hurt, we, in turn, don’t want to hurt them.  Yet we generally won’t tell them to back off, or thanks but no thanks, or what-have-you.  Further, if they are the type to harp on a topic long enough, no matter how strong your psyche, it will wear you down and complicate the path you are walking.

What can you do about this?

First: Don’t take it in unless it REALLY resonates with you.  Sometimes, this outside perspective may show that you actually SHOULD step away from the path you are on.  Maybe the well-intentioned resistance opens a new path showing that which you are on won’t work.  However, once you’ve reached the point of meeting this resistance, this likely won’t be the case.

Second: Don’t argue.  It’s part of our nature to meet resistance with resistance.  This won’t dissuade the well-intentioned, they will take it as a sign that they are right.

Third: Don’t fully engage.  Thank them for their advice, but don’t really engage them to go further.  Change the topic.  Walk away.  Make an excuse to get off the phone or stop texting or whatever.

Fourth: Don’t discuss it with them in the future.  The people offering well-intentioned resistance have shown that they are not a good sounding board, so it might be best to steer clear of the topic as often as possible.

Fifth: Consult with a confidant for reassurance.  We are only human, and when our loved ones show that they don’t believe in our goals, well-intentioned or not, it hurts.  Talking with someone who supports your path can restore your confidence.

Keep walking your own path.

Pathwalking is a challenge.  However, I believe that manifesting the life I most desire, and being happy in what I do and how I spend my days is more important than going with the flow and being discontent.  This is why I am striving to choose for myself, and walk the best path for me that I can.

Why Does the World Need More Positivity?

The world needs more positivity.

Why?  Because when we feel positive, we feel good.  When we feel good, we enhance the ability to draw more good to ourselves.  As such, we empower ourselves.  When we are empowered, we are capable of almost anything.

Unfortunately, we are living in a fear-based society.  We are inundated with negativity, we are told that there is lack and scarcity, and that we should fear the unknown, the untested, and the unfamiliar.  We sensationalize things to fear, and we continue as such to draw more to us.

The downside of instantaneous global communications is that we are hyper-aware of every single thing that happens.  Trouble is, what we are kept the most informed about is bad news.  Natural disasters, terrorist attacks, war and various atrocities dominate the news media.  As if that weren’t enough, to score higher ratings they strive to sensationalize these negative things, which just gives them more power.

And just to add insult to injury, the rise of fake news and opinion and blind faith in place of science and research makes it worse.  Fear mongers, religious leaders and conspiracy theorists have become all-too-readily accepted.  The negativity they are spewing fuels society’s fires.

We can overcome them, however.  But to do this, we can’t fight fire with fire.  We need to fight fire with water, dark with light.  We need to find and express more positivity.  We need to turn away from the negativity, and stop empowering it.  We need to overcome the fear with every positive tool we can muster.

The key is Positivity.

If we can focus more on finding the good in the world, we can use it to supplant the bad.  Like attracts like, that’s the Law of Attraction.  When we focus on positivity, we can attract more of it to us.  We can empower ourselves, and when we feel empowered we are capable of helping to empower others.

Even if you think the notion of the Law of Attraction is bunk, what harm is there in creating more positivity?  Does anyone really enjoy living in fear?  Does anyone really want to be lacking?  Does anyone want to feel bad, hurt, sad, or otherwise negative?  If we strive more to feel positive and good, we can disrupt the fear.

I am not suggesting ignoring the world around us.  But instead of feeding the hate, the fear, the lack…we need to find the love, the peace, the abundance.  We are better than this.  We each are empowered to discover that.  That is where positivity comes in, and that is why the world needs more of it.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that we live in a fear-based society, we can choose if we want to feed the fear, or overcome it.  When we create more positivity in the world, we can break from the negativity, we can disempower the fear and in turn empower ourselves.  When we feel empowered, we often spread that feeling to others around us, and as such can build more positive feelings in the collective consciousness.  We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings.  When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for.  Gratitude leads to happiness.  Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude.  Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.

Why “To Decide” is Very Important to Crossing the Bridges of Life

If I don’t bother to decide, I leave my fate up to my subconscious.

Sure, I could blame outside influences or circumstances or what-have-you.  But the truth is that when I don’t make conscious decisions, my subconscious is driving the bus.

This can be a particularly complicated concept to grasp.  Probably the biggest reason why is because we live in a society that lacks accountability.

Our government is the perfect example of this fact.  At almost every level, nobody takes responsibility for their actions.  The blame gets tossed about and analyzed, but actual accountability is nil.  Because we see this on so many levels of our reality, we generally go with the flow and tend to also lack accountability.

That’s the first part.  The second is recognizing that we create our own reality.  Consciousness creates reality.  But when I do not consciously decide for myself, subconsciousness creates my reality.

I still find this concept difficult to grasp.  Yet I know that it’s the truth of the way the Universe functions.  Nobody but me can think what and how I think.  I alone feel what I feel, even when I allow outside influences to affect my feelings.  Only I can act on things I decide, or don’t, to do.  That being said, the reality in which I live now, for good or bad, is of my own making.

To decide is to take control.

A great deal of the issues I have with my current reality are products of past thought, feeling and action.  Every thought that you seat deeply enough into your psyche and put feeling behind has the power to create.  Even when you cease to attend to that thought/feeling, if it’s rooted deeply, it gets acted upon.  If you do not consciously create reality, you still create reality subconsciously.

Ever notice when you expect something to be terrible, and start visualizing it, you’re seldom disappointed?  You didn’t consciously want to create that – but you subconsciously DID.  And so you have.

When you work on being aware and in the here and now, you empower yourself.  You gain control of your decision.  Awareness of conscious creation makes for creating better realities.

As I am working on improving my reality, this is hugely important.

Don’t let your subconscious decide.

I want to choose my life.  I don’t want to let my subconscious and limiting thoughts do it.  Yet most of my life, that’s how it has been.  While I have created some pretty amazing stuff in my life, I know I am capable of manifesting even better.

That’s why I want to consciously create my reality.  I am walking the path of my own choosing.  I am crossing these bridges I am creating between the paths in my life.  If I choose to do so consciously, I gain the power to build amazing things.

I have done this before, more than once.  Yet I allow myself to cede control of my emotions to the media, or in reaction to outside influence too readily.  When I do that, I let my subconscious feelings mix with subconscious thoughts, and I create mediocrity where I want to manifest greatness for myself.

Decide to be aware.

This is the key.  I need to be aware of my thoughts, my feelings, and my actions.  I know that this comes down to decision.  I need to decide that this is my life.  I need to decide what to do. I need to decide what to keep, what to change, and what to act on.  Frequently, not occasionally.  As my current reading material points out, this is a muscle.  Like any muscle, you have to exercise it to make it stronger.

I know I can live in a better reality than this one.  I also know that I need to be grateful for this reality.  My life is good.  This is not me complaining about it.  Good, however, is not all I want.  I want great.  I want to be happier.  I want to enjoy how I spend my days more than I do now.  Life is too short to live halfway.  I want to live bigger.  I am capable of that, and I know it.  The key is conscious reality creation.

I ask myself questions several times a day to heighten my awareness.  Yet because most of my weekday hours are in a place that numbs me, I am still struggling.  I have to change this.  I need to decide to change this.  That’s the first step.

Decide to overcome the fear.

Deciding is scary.  I worry that if I decide wrong I will invite failure.  But the truth, and I know this, is that doing something and failing beats doing nothing and failing.  Make a decision.  Think, feel, act.  DECIDE.  Conscious reality creation is powerful, but I am the only one who can manifest for myself.

More decision.  More actions.  I know I can do this.  Let’s see what I do with this.  As always, thank you for crossing the bridges with me.

 

GOAL LOG – Week 25:

Diet:  Overall I have been good on my food intake.

Exercise:  Fencing two days, one lap around the small lake three different days, a walk with my friend and her dog, AND three days at the gym!

Writing:  The three blog posts were done.

Meditation:  Every day last week, never less than 6 minutes.

Gratitude:  I expressed gratitude for 5 things every day last week.

What do you do when the path gets scary?

Walking along the path of your choosing can sometimes be scary.

This is frequently because in choosing your own path in life, you will incur both internal and external criticism.  The internal is the result from when you step out of your comfort zone; the external is the reaction you get from those around you as you break from the accepted norm.

Pathwalking is about choice.  It is about consciously creating our own reality, and seeking out our own destiny.  This type of choice is something many people decide not to make, and because it’s not the tried and true, it’s going to cause some disconcerting and possibly negative feelings.

In Into the Woods, one of Stephen Sondheim’s lyric goes, “Though it’s fearful, though it’s deep, though it’s dark and though you may lose the path, though you may encounter wolves, you can’t just act, you have to listen. You can’t just act, you have to think. “

This is quintessential to Pathwalking.  When you encounter that fearful, dark bit along the path you can’t just take action.  There has to be thought.  You have to pay attention to what is happening, and feel what the outcome is going to be.  You have to decide if what you are feeling is a warning for your protection…or rather, if it’s a reaction to breaking from your comfort zone.

Fear of the unknown.

Recently, walking my own path, I came across a situation.  A choice.  I moved this blog from the nice, comfortable host it was with to a new host, where I can take it to a whole new level, and do far, far more in the way of customizing and optimizing it.  I have been taking an online course, and reached a point where it was suggested I create content that required the more advanced hosting option.

This presented me with two concerns.  The first, in changing things over I might lose what I already have created and worked so hard with for the last five-and-a-half years.  The second was a somewhat substantial (to me) financial outlay.

To grow, this change was absolutely necessary.  I had spent a couple weeks researching this shift, figuring out the best host and the best deal, researching creating options to make changes to some of my other domains down-the-line, and investigating how to maintain the existing content.  I lamented about it, checked, rechecked, and checked out all the options again.  I hesitated.  I debated.

Did I want to truly walk the path of my choosing?  Was I ready to make this change?  Was I in the right place to go ahead and do something different?

Take a leap of faith.

I went ahead and took the steps I knew were necessary for this.  I realized that my fear was not a warning that I was in some form of danger, it was the familiar expressing fear of the unknown.  It was my comfort zone reacting to perceived discomfort.  It was the me I was fighting the me I am, and the me I want to be.

Who we are, in the here-and-now, is a result of our thoughts, feelings and actions of the past.  Really.   This is why thinking about, feeling out, and then taking intentional actions in the present is so powerful.  We cannot undo the past; if we see what we want as the future, it will remain in the future.

That is the concept I find hardest to grasp.  I constantly feel like I am on the cusp of creating what I want, on the verge of consciously creating my desired reality…and because I keep it just ahead of me, just about to happen, it never manages to actually happen.  So close…but not yet there.  Or rather…not yet here.

This time I recognized the fear for what it was.  It was the self-sabotaging reaction to change.  I took a deep breath, and I ignored it and made the change.  You may have noticed the blog looks a bit different today, as such.   This is just the beginning!

Disempower the fear.

When you reach one of those scary moments along your path, you are the only one who can feel or not feel the fear.  Nobody else is in your head but you, so you are the only one who can make the choices about what you want your reality to look like.

In this instance, you can’t ignore and neglect the fear, you have to look at it, get to know it.  Only by acknowledging it can you determine if this fear is truly present to protect you from harm, or if this fear is a reaction to change, and stepping outside of your comfort zone.

It’s actually easy to tell the difference between real fear and perceived fear, which is what I’m writing about here.  Real fear is certain knowledge that there is danger.  It’s generally tangible, like being an antelope on the Serengeti surrounded by lions. A real intangible fear will feel the same, a clear and present, immediate danger.

Perceived fear is not in the present.  How can you tell?  It is usually attached to the words What If?  What if I choose this and I fail?  What if I succeed?  What if I get it wrong?  What if I get it right?  When you recognize this, you will see that it’s about fearing change.  Because it is an intangible, and not an immediate danger, you get to choose to disempower the fear, and move forward past it.

Walking along the path of your choosing can sometimes be scary.  But when you are consciously creating your reality, you are manifesting a life that is exciting, fulfilling, and full of endless potential.

How to Make Monday YOUR Day

Today will be whatever you make it be.

It’s far too easy to approach Monday and the traditional start of the work week with distress, trepidation, displeasure, and unhappiness.  There is an entire culture of Monday woe in this society, which has been and continues to be capitalized on, and as such gets reinforced.

Does anyone want Monday to suck?  I am pretty sure the answer is NO.  I don’t really know anyone who wants to be miserable, who wants to have a bad day and a bad week, or who craves feeling powerless and unhappy.

We are all so much more powerful than we give ourselves credit for.  For real, we are the creators of the world in which we live.  My favorite line from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has always been, “We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dreams.”  In other words, we have control over the lives we live.  We choose the beat we dance to in this life, and the dreams we experience.

Keeping this in mind, why do we so readily ascribe lousiness to Monday?  Because that’s our culture.  We have this wide-ranging belief that Monday, as the beginning of the new work week, is going to probably be no fun, distressing, and generally unpleasant.

If like attracts like, and consciousness creates reality, what do you think approaching Monday with dread is going to do?  Further, why perpetuate this negative, frankly depressing approach to a day in our lives?  We are only on this earth for a limited time.  Yeah, there are going to be days that suck, and there are going to be issues and problems and challenges to be had, and sometimes it really is easiest to just go with it, go with the flow, let it be as it will be.

However, we have a choice.  Rather than fall into this notion and allow for another lousy Monday, another set-up for a less-than-desired work week, why don’t we seek better?  Why don’t we use the tools we have available to us like gratitude and positivity generators to change the station, tune in more desirable music?

Yes, we will need to expend some effort to break from the norm.  It could make people look at us askance, and wonder why we aren’t doing things in the same way they are.  So what?  If like attracts like, and consciousness creates reality, if we approach the week from a positive perspective, then we are apt to attract more positives our way.

Monday needn’t start us off in deficit, we have the ability instead to begin in abundance.  Wouldn’t you rather look to be content and happy than distraught and unhappy?  Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.  Knowing that we have the power to choose how to approach the start of the work week, we can work on choosing to approach it from a place of abundance.  When we see the day for possibility rather than for impossibility, we empower ourselves.  When we feel empowered, we often spread that feeling to others around us, and as such can build more positive feelings in the collective consciousness.  We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings.  When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for.  Gratitude leads to happiness.  Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude.  Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.

How does the use of I AM matter in Crossing the Bridges?

There are actions I can take, right now, to change my life.

The challenge with this is in mindfulness.  While the action I am looking to take is relatively simple, it requires a great deal of mindfulness.

I have written before about the power of the words I AM.  These two little words will ultimately define me, in the here and now, in absolute and specific ways.  I AM is far more powerful than the retrospective I WAS or the future-tensed I WILL BE, because it is a totally definitive declaration.

How I AM is followed is a clear-cut statement.  It will also determine perspective, expectation, and even intent.  What’s more, I AM is a true presentation of belief.

Because consciousness creates reality, what we think about and believe is made manifest.  I AM is so powerful, that it will create more of the representation it is stating.  It is a statement in present tense, which is the most powerful place for manifesting conscious creation.

Yet I know I tend to just toss around I AM statements without much thought.  I think most people do, because we really do not recognize how powerful that statement is.  It’s not about someone else, it is about ME, and as such it is intentional and focused.

How do we consciously create reality?  Thought, focused into feeling, and from feeling taking intentional action.  I AM is an intentional action statement, and is capable of creating all sorts of things, both desirable and undesirable.

Be Aware of what you think and say.

It’s all-too-easy to neglect the power of I AM, and to make statements that might seem innocuous, but in truth are powerful conscious creators.  For example, saying I am tired, I am overwhelmed, I am unhappy, I am depressed, I am fat, I am useless, I am a screw-up will make me precisely that.  I will be tired, overwhelmed, fat and depressed if I continue to abuse the power of I AM in this way.

I know that many of these are true statements.  I may be feeling tired and unhappy, and it may be a fact to state that I am overweight or suffering from depression – but making the statement of I AM reinforces these matters, and empowers them even further.

I am not advocating lying, or denying negative thoughts and feelings.  Lies cannot build much of a foundation, are impossible to sustain, and frequently become harmful, especially to ourselves.  We are going to feel negative emotions, because we’re only human, and if we didn’t know the bad we’d be incapable of knowing the good we most desire.

What I am advocating here is taking just a little more time and consideration in the use of I AM.  Knowing the manifestation power of these two tiny words, it’s hugely important to use them only with care and consideration.

Use I AM to build up, not to tear down.

Despite the truth that may be brought forth in using I AM, exercising thought and restraint in its use can totally change the world I am creating for myself.  Whenever I follow I AM with a negative statement, true or not, I am basically telling the universe this is who and what I believe that I am, so please give me more.

The action I can take, right now, to change my life, is to consider what I am thinking or saying whenever the words I AM are employed.  If I am feeling something negative, rather than express it with an I AM statement, I need to take a more impersonal viewpoint.  I need to step back from it.  For example, let’s say I am feeling tired.  Rather than say or think I am tired, I need to consider either giving that no acknowledgement at all, or an impersonal one, such as I think I could use more sleep or I feel the need for more rest or even I feel tired.  Yes, this last might be splitting hairs, but in not stating I AM, I am not taking ownership and telling the universe this is how I am and want to continue to be.

I AM is a statement of empowerment.

The universe doesn’t recognize the concept of don’t want, it only recognizes want.  Stating I AM TIRED tells the universe this is what I am and what I want.  I am owning the feeling or attribute as me, and in so doing empowering it, and telling the universe I want more of it.  This is why it is important to be aware of the statement that follows I AM, so that I can be more of what I truly want to be.  For example, I AM AWESOME.

That is the immediate, life changing action I am taking.  Every time I think or say I AM, I will take extra time to consider if the statement I am making is one I want, or one I don’t want.  Being aware is going to be a challenge, but one I think could make a massive difference in consciously creating the life I desire.

I am capable of doing this.  I am able to manifest the destiny I want.  I am grateful. Let’s do this.  As always, thank you for crossing the bridges with me!

How do you recognize if you’re walking the right Path?

How do I know if I am on the right path?

This is probably the most basic, yet most challenging question to ask.  The answer is both amazingly simple, and yet fairly complicated.

Pathwalking is making choices about living life, in order to work to consciously create our personal reality as we want it to be.  Rather than simply going along with life and letting whatever happens, happen; as we walk our chosen paths we strive to be present and aware.  We don’t want to let life just occur, we are working on living life to its fullest.

There is always more than one path.  That’s how the universe works.  If consciousness creates reality, as this blog asserts, then we can choose virtually any path we might desire.  As such, there is more than one “right” path for us.

It’s important to recognize that the idea of “right” is fairly loaded.  Right is often the extreme opposite of wrong, but in this context right is a matter of feeling, desire, and drive.  Further, today’s right choice could be wrong for us tomorrow.

I recognize that that’s pretty vague.  This is because the specifics of what is right for me are not going to necessarily be right for you, or for anyone else for that matter.  “Right” in this particular context is a matter of feeling, belief and faith.

How do I recognize the right path?

The short answer is that the right path will feel good.  It will almost seem like its too easy, and the work you do along the right path feels less like work, and more like play.  It’s surprisingly easy to lose track of time when you are on the right path, because you get so caught up in it you just take action because it’s what you need to do.

For example, when I am writing, and really getting into my work, whether it’s my blog or my fiction or even writing for business, I often just flow with it. Time loses meaning, and I come away from a project feeling complete, content, and like I wasn’t working at all, just doing what feels good to me.

I desire to be writing more frequently.  I am driven to write, and that is how I am certain that this is the path that is right for me.

It feels good.  It feels like it is what I am supposed to do.  That is how I know my path is the right path.  But to really be travelling upon that path, it’s important to believe and have faith.

What’s the difference between belief and faith?

In many respects these are similar concepts, but not in this context.  How does this work, then?  Belief is important to Pathwalking, because if you don’t believe that consciousness can create reality, and that you can choose your own destiny, your own path in life, then you are going to be incapable of living this way.

I believe that I can create the life I desire.  I have made this work before, more than once.  And that is where faith comes into play.

I believe in this…but I don’t necessarily have faith.  I believe, in the abstract, but my faith in my own belief is open to scrutiny, questioned by my own skepticism.  But more than that, what this boils down to is my faith in myself.  I believe that consciousness creates reality, but I have no faith in myself to consciously create it.

If I am responsible for consciously creating my reality, then I need to have faith in myself.  I am the only one who can make MY life what I want it to be.  But if I lack faith in myself, what can I do?

How do you create faith in yourself?

When you believe in yourself, you believe you are capable of almost anything.  We nearly all feel this way as children, but as we get older and we are exposed to certain “realities”, this fades.  We can regain our ability to believe in abstracts, but after that we have to have faith – faith in ourselves.

Skepticism, cynicism, self-doubt, self-recrimination, second-guessing and self-deprecation are all born of a lack of faith.  Despite what you might believe about conscious reality creation, you don’t have sufficient faith in yourself to achieve it.  This is evident if your self-talk is frequently negative, such as I am no good; I am unimportant; I am fat; I am lazy; I fail more often than I succeed; if I don’t joke about myself everyone else will; and so on.  When you speak ill of yourself, it shows a lack of faith in who you are capable of being.

You may not be who you want to be right now.  That’s ok.  One of the reasons to choose Pathwalking is to become the person you most want to be, even if that is not who you are now.  To do that you have to think about it, feel it out, take inspired, intentional actions – and believe in the possibility; have faith in your ability to succeed.  When it feels like you can conquer the world, and you believe in conscious reality creation and have faith in yourself, you will know that are on the right path for you.
