The Positivity of Being Your Truest Self Isn’t Easy

But it’s totally worth it – because you are worth it. Are you your genuine self? Maybe, like me, you’ve worn different masks in various situations. This was the “self” you presented to specific audiences, for diverse reasons. One mask at work, one at school, one for friends, one for family, one in private, one in public. Group ‘X’ of people you spend time with get one mask, while group ‘Y’ gets another. There’s nothing evil, dishonest, or deceitful in

Why is The Unknown Path So Damned Scary?

Because it’s unknown – and thus, uncertain. On the one hand, I’ve never been one for plans, lists, and the like. It’s always felt genuine and true to myself to be more improvisational in my approach to life. On the other hand, I’m a Virgo. Sometimes I get utterly ordered and freakishly clean, arrange, and set stuff up. When it comes to choosing and walking a given path in my life, this can be challenging. Loose and ready for anything

Why Is Maintaining an Abundance Mindset So Challenging?

An abundance mindset often stands against real and imagined aspects of reality. I recognize and acknowledge that my life is good. Not to brag, but in the grand scheme of things, my life is good. I have an incredible partner, jobs I like, a career I love, friends, a roof over my head, and many things above and beyond basics. For this, I am deeply grateful. So many people in the world are not in this position. There’s room for

Is It Really Worth the Effort?

You alone know if it’s really worth the effort – or not. What is “It”? That depends, I suppose. Various things that we can experience will qualify as “it.” Might be something big and scary or small and mundane. “It” might be getting up early to go for a walk. Or it might be applying for that dream job you’ve always wanted. Maybe “it” is finally cleaning out the walk-in closet in your bedroom. Perhaps “it” is taking the time

Have I Actually Got This – Or Am I Just Fooling Myself?

Believing that you’ve got this is the first step to handling everything we experience. Sometimes the day begins with you waking up excited, anticipating good things to come, and feeling rested. Other times, you begin the day with dread, not looking at all forward to what you have on your plate. Most often, at least in my experience, you probably begin your day groggy, maybe a little achy, uncertain, and unsure of just what lies ahead for you. The first

For Some, Positivity is Extra Hard This Time of Year

It can be extra difficult to remember that positivity and all its elements are already inside us. For some people, the holidays are the best time of the year. Get-togethers with family and friends; amazing meals and treats; notions of joy, cheer, goodwill, and the like – and presents, of course. Yet for some people, the holidays are the worst time of the year. Reminders of loneliness; incompatibility of non-Christian religions; struggles to meet expectations; dealing with family and the

Where do Power and Control Come From?

This post contains affiliate banner links. For more info, see my disclosures.   The only real power and control we have is internal. All of the external expressions of power and control are never ours.  They belong only to those who are wielding them, and will only continue to exist as long as people accept their own lack of them. Yes, when we go to the voting booth, we are choosing people to “represent” us.  Some take that responsibility to

You Are Not Invisible

This post contains affiliate links. For more info, see my disclosures here.   You are not invisible.  Nor should you be. I see you.  I see the struggles you are going through.  They treat you as if you do not matter, and they act as if what you have endured is not important. They are wrong.  You do matter, and what you have endured is important.  Yes, you have struggled against incredible odds, and continue to fight to do so.

Is There an Albatross Around Your Neck?

Is there an albatross around your neck? What does that even mean?  First, the albatross has been a sign of good luck to sailors for centuries.  As such, killing one is considered to be bad luck.  In the old poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, because the narrator killed an albatross, his fellow sailors made him wear it around his neck. As such, it references the notion that you have a burden weighing you down.

Brain Squirrels?

These brain squirrels running around inside my head can be a real annoyance sometimes. Brain squirrels, or for some people brain weasels, are those annoying little rodents running around and causing dis-ease, doubt, distractions, and various negatives to get in the way of just about everything. Working with them can be challenging. I think everyone copes with this in some form or other.  No matter our intent or general thoughts, feelings and actions, these random, little, mostly annoying thoughts just
