Like attracts like.

This is the reason why revenge never works in the quest for justice. An act of retribution will gain you nothing but further retribution.

We are inundated by a constant barrage of negativity, and that is where we wind up putting our focus. We end up in a state of negative thinking, and as such like attracts like and we continue to draw in more things to feel badly about.

Knowing this, it is important to make a conscious effort to draw positivity to ourselves. If we want to use like to attract like, then we need to be more mindful of what we are focusing on.

Yes, it is good to be informed. We need to know what is happening in the world around us, because if we don’t we can’t change it. But any changes to the greater world are going to start even smaller than most people perceive. It starts with each of us changing how and what we focus on.

We need to spend a little time every day finding things that make us feel good. Music, pictures and videos, certain smells and even textures that make us feel contentment. We need to find ways to make ourselves smile.

I began to explore the power of positivity because I saw so many people posting negative expressions of their Monday experience. The thing is, the more focus we put on those negative feelings, like attracts like, we get more things to feel negative about.

While we are great at focusing on how other people around us are feeling, we have come to see interest in our own feelings as selfish. The problem is, if you are not feeling good, how can you help anyone else to feel good?   This is why it is imperative we see the importance of being aware of our own feelings, and mindful of whether we are thinking negative or positive thoughts.

Be mindful of the sad and depressing events in the world today. But don’t focus your energy on them…find something that makes you feel good to counterbalance the negativity they bring. We can do far more good by finding positive and constructive means to draw change than by responding to negativity with negativity and seeking revenge.

I am unable tell you how to do this. I don’t know what will work for you, but I do know that if we change our focus to positivity it always feels better than negativity.

Finding positivity is not hard, it just requires action. Knowing that like attracts like, we can shift our focus from things that are negative to things that are positive. When we are mindful of putting more focus on positive things than negative ones, we can use the energy from the positive feelings to dissolve negative feelings. When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for. Gratitude leads to happiness. Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude. Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
