Can Logic and Emotion Coexist?

Logic and emotion can coexist, but it is often in a form of détente.

Logic and emotion are another term for thought and feeling, two of the necessary ingredients for conscious reality creation.  In order to manifest anything we desire in this life, we need to begin it with thought, empower it with emotion, and then get it moving with intentional action.

For many people, though, logic and emotion tend to conflict

Logic and EmotionThe Vulcans in Star Trek were so distressed by the surreal power of emotion that their whole culture eschewed it for logic.  Despite the fact that they possessed emotions like the other sentient beings of the galaxy, they still strove to repress them, focusing wholly on logic.

Why?  Because emotion is not rational, cannot be easily directed and controlled, and tends to override reason.

Yes, each and every one of us is capable of controlling our emotions; however, it takes practice and effort to do so.

Things happen outside of ourselves that evoke an emotional response.  That initial response can often be tempered, but it cannot be controlled.  You will be made angry, spiteful, joyful, loving, hateful, ecstatic, and enraged by experiences with the world around you.  We feel what we feel in that moment, each differently because each of us experiences emotions differently.

How long you hold onto a given emotion, however, is wholly in your control.  Resentment and jealousy, for example, are built entirely internally.  We choose to create and hold onto them.

It is for this reason that many prefer cold, hard, logic to unpredictable emotion.  Except, as evidenced by our modern society, even logic can be skewed.

Logic and emotion getting mixed

The shape of the earth.  Vaccinations.  Global warming.  Equal rights.  Facts and logic on these topics, for some, do not matter.  They allow their emotional belief to overcome facts and logic, and all of a sudden we’re debating topics that have a logical, factual base in a completely emotional way.

Ergo, emotion overcomes logic.  Despite the efforts of many to use logic to overcome emotion, it’s an ongoing debate, and the cause of much conflict.

Logic and Emotion CoexistWe cannot help anyone but ourselves to create harmony between logic and emotion.  My head and my heart can be brought into alignment, but I only have the power to do so for myself.  I can use logic and emotion to drive my intentional actions, so that I can manifest the life I most desire.

Positivity comes of being an example for others.  And let’s face it, we all know people who are both good and bad examples out there.  You and I get to choose which we wish to be, but we can only choose for ourselves.  When we focus on our own thoughts, feelings, and actions we can do right by ourselves.

Perhaps, when we choose to do so with positivity, we can be that good example others can take encouragement from.  In this way, we are all empowered to work to change the world for the better.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that we can get our own logic and emotion to coexist, we can work to be a good example for others.  When we focus on our own desires, and work on our individual conscious reality creation to manifest better lives, ultimately we empower ourselves.  When we feel empowered, we frequently spread that feeling to others around us, and as such can build more positive feelings.  We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings.

When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive energies, and that is something we can be grateful for.  Gratitude leads to happiness.  Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude.  Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.
